EAST Lancashire’s Olympians have been posing, gurning and generally showing off their way to the Games.

London 2012-bound athletes have been getting snap happy in the Olympic photo booth that has been all the rage with members of Team GB.

The booth, part of the adidas Take The Stage campaign, is at Loughbrough University where athletes have been picking up their official kit – and they have been urged to strike a pose.

Not that they have needed much encouragement.

Pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale was happy to clown about, modern pentathlete Sam Murray went all cheeky while handball ace Ciaran Williams couldn’t get enough of it!

“I was first in and stayed for about half an hour,” said Williams, a former Haslingden High School pupil who lives in Edenfield. “I think they were happy when I finally left!

“It was a great day with lots of memories and it made me feel a real part of the team.”

Bleasdale, one of East Lancashire’s best medal prospects, also enjoyed the dressing up experience.

“Kitting out was immense, the best experience,” said the Blackburn Harrier from Chorley.

But they have been in good company. Golden girl heptathlete Jessica Ennis, the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips – a member of the three-day eventing team – and even Prime Minister David Cameron all got in on the act.

  • The Team GB athletes visited Loughborough University to receive her performance kit, village wear and training wear and is pictured wearing the adidas Team GB sweatbands, part of every athletes kitbag and also available to buy for RRP £7 from shop.london2012.com as well as range of retail outlets, including the adidas performance stores nationwide
