Rao: Shebby will make real difference
8:10am Monday 23rd July 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
VENKATESH Rao believes Shebby Singh will prove pivotal to restoring relations between Blackburn Rovers and their fans as the club target an immediate return to the Premier League.
Singh was appointed as Rovers’ new global advisor earlier this summer and has been given the role of overseeing events at Ewood Park as Venky’s attempt to turn around the club’s fortunes, with relegation leaving many supporters disillusioned with both the owners and manager Steve Kean.
“Unless they are happy, we are not happy,” Rao said about the fans. “The day they are happy, we are happy.
“We are trying to bring all of the changes, whether it is players or management, at the end of the day the fans will look at the results.
“Now he (Singh) is here to talk to the fans, build relations, tackle the local problems day to day and see that they are satisfied. He is right there at the ground level and that’s what he’s doing now – not only talking to fans but also talking to players, talking to other management.
“I think overall it’s a very good move and you will see the fruits.”
Venky’s resisted calls to change the manager, however, with Kean remaining in place.
Rao was non-committal about Kean’s future at the start of the summer but now says they decided to be loyal to the Scot.
“Usually what happens is that we just change X, Y, Z, we change the manager and the pressure is off,” he said.
“But that’s not the end of the story, the reality is that we have to produce results, we have to give some time out and we have to work like a team and unfortunately this (relegation) has happened.
“But I hope and know God willing we will go back as fast as possible.
“We met a couple of times, we have a series of meetings and he is also under pressure and we want to get back as fast as possible because that’s where we belong.”

I saw it yesterday and the really interesting bit is where they show the end of a press conference (to introduce Gomes I think) and Kean gets up at the end and walks straight past Shebby and out the room without even acknowledging him or even looking at him. It was very telling and there is certainly no love lost there between those two.
Kean must really hate Shebby, as his little Stevie-empire is being overseen now, which is good news for all of us. Cos if Kean doesn't toe the Shebby/Venky line then he will be out sooner than anyone thought possible.

Shabby cooked his goose the minute he backtracked on Kean whilst telling us all that Fester had got Fulham promoted. What a fool.
I wrote a very polite letter to Shabby asking him a few key questions as a season ticket holder of 25 years.
Nothing back. No courtesy. I have worked in business all my life. Is this how the new link to the fans should treat its customers.
Everytime I see another announcement from "the club" I cringe and prepare myself to feel more frustration, disgust and anger at just how patronising they are.
Keep up the boycott. They think we are all sheep who will continue to pay.

The report on SS so far have been good - most people, club employees, BRAG etc that have met him have said that he talks openly about the problems at the club - and understands them. He knows everyone hates Kean and I heard that he told some fans last week that SK has "less than 5 games" if we start badly - time will tell, I still have my doubts whether that will happen.
.
As for VR - he talks some crap. He knows SK is useless and would love to get rid of him put weilds as much power as the rest of us.
.
If Venkys allow SS to sack Kean then most of us fans would allow them to have a second chance - but until that point NOTHING has changed - its just hot air and bull$hit.

"Unless they are happy, we are not happy,” Rao said about the fans. “The day they are happy, we are happy".
It's perfectly simple Mr. Rao, remove Kean from the club and the fans will give the owners a chance. I for one will buy my season tickets again.
Andy, do Rao, Singh etc take note of comments posted on here? Are you able to have a dialogue directly with them? Or, do they rely on feedback from Agnew and/or Kean, which will undoubtedly be sanitised.

Venkatesh I hope you read these columns, if you want to make the fans happy you MUST sack Kean. Its no longer about results, if he was to win every game this season and be promoted many fans including myself will not be back until he has gone.
His actions over the last 18 months are unforgivable and he will never have the backing of the majority of the fans, the club will never move forward and be united until the so called manager is removed.

The Odious One must arrive at the realization that he is also expendable rather than bullet proof as he has become over these last 2 years.

One thing I do believe here is that Shebby is the enforcer for failure, and should fire this sorry ****'d imposter if and when he does just that ?

Better someone gets on the phone to find a replacement for our creaking defense !

No reply from the LET on our requests. If you can do anything from your side that would be good.
As for Desperate Dann going to Southampton, well that could be a good hat-trick for him -would make it three clubs he took down from the prem - Birmingham, Rovers and Southampton! Maybe our defence will improve just with his absence...

If anybody has a positive suggestion then speak now!
We just spend our days reading and writing on these pages. Back and forth, back and forth. A calls B, B calls A. Sometimes something constructive but mostly not. Still it passe the time, each day one day nearer to the start of the season and then the fun begins. Ipswich game is going to be the most intensely scrutinised game in the history of Kean. Then the first home game, what will we make of that?

We know (from his TV work) he doesn't think Kean is up to the job. We have anecdotal evidence (from multiple people in the room) he and others advised Madame to sack Kean at the start of the summer and for whatever reason Kean got a stay of execution.
Therefore reading between the lines, it's pretty obvious that Shebby can't justify sacking Kean until he does something NEW wrong (otherwise it would be directly countermanding his boss) but I strongly suspect he'll jump at the first real chance he gets .... and if he doesn't, then I fear and they've employed a charmer to get the fans back on side, which in itself is ironic given the none-footballing side of the club is now run by a former PR guy.

Titus James Palani is also no fluke as young boy at the age of 12 years he had already shown great potentials. He was the only one player selected by a French scout to train in a French Football Academy. It is very sad and unfortunate the he did not make it to 2nd and subsequently to French 1st Ligue much to the disappointment to many Malaysians, especially me. But this shortcomings in his career is definitely not a question about doubts in skill, talent or quality. Most probably I think in my opinion it could be his agent or his managers did not make an true effort market him to top level football. The same could have happened like the manner you racial bigots who are all out "kill" this aspiring talented and worthy Malaysian footballer from having an opportunity to show his great potentials. Just for you info Shebby was a former Malaysian national footballer and played for several local clubs producing great results.
I am hoping so much the Venky's and Shebby singh will do their best to include this skillful footballer Titus James Palani in Rovers team I will be extremely delighted to see him playing in the new season. Good luck and may the Lord grant you success in your dreams.
Don't worry the Malaysian kid obviously has the right agent now, personally all I want to see are players who are capable of playing at Championship level and a professional football manager.

I saw it yesterday and the really interesting bit is where they show the end of a press conference (to introduce Gomes I think) and Kean gets up at the end and walks straight past Shebby and out the room without even acknowledging him or even looking at him. This sounds like Germany of the late 1930's. Not such an outlandish reference, but the comparisons are stark.
By the way the shot of Keans 'minder' from saturday was stomach churning in the extreme. All it said to me was: Hoodlum!
I abhor any sort of abusive, aggressive behaviour. I dislike the continued chanting, as I see no end product forthcoming and being counter productive.
BUT, to say anyone attending should have no say negative should be banned is totally beyond my comprehension as the way run a football club, or a society i.e. 1984 !
I am so, so glad I elected to walk away e.o. 2010/2011 as I did not like the way this was heading.

As for Shebby Singh, he may have the authority to hire and fire most of the staff but I suspect that he won't be able to sack Kean without Mrs Desai's blessing. Quite what he's done to be given such a powerful position is also questionable, his CV certainly suggests that he's not qualified. His U-turn on Kean seems to suggest that he's just another yes man, his comments about Kean helping Fulham gain promotion proves he'll repeat anything he's told to without researching the facts and his lie about his compatriot Palani playing in the French third division shows that he's taking the rest of us for mugs, just like Kean and the owners.

People asking for Venky's to sack Kean before the season starts need to understand that they've missed the boat, so to speak. If they were to sack him now, after already keeping their faith in him, he would probably sue them for unfair dismissal. I hate to say it but the only way his position will become untenable is if the team struggles. If we want Rovers to do well we have to accept that Kean will also stay.

It is simply the maturity to understand and perceive what the present management is trying to do revive Blackburn Rovers and return to Premier League next season (2013-2014). Many comments here are irrational and speak out of prejudice but not based on substance. You condemn at everything about Venky's,Shebby singh or Kean without giving them a fair chance to improve the situation. If you can manage that, please email me with this Friday's winning Euromillions numbers.
You genuinely have more chance of doing the latter.

Did anyone see this interview with Venketesh Rao on SKY?
I saw it yesterday and the really interesting bit is where they show the end of a press conference (to introduce Gomes I think) and Kean gets up at the end and walks straight past Shebby and out the room without even acknowledging him or even looking at him. It was very telling and there is certainly no love lost there between those two.
Kean must really hate Shebby, as his little Stevie-empire is being overseen now, which is good news for all of us. Cos if Kean doesn't toe the Shebby/Venky line then he will be out sooner than anyone thought possible.
One thing I do believe here is that Shebby is the enforcer for failure, and should fire this sorry ****'d imposter if and when he does just that ?
What I would give for BRFC to succeed this Championship season !
Dann linked with Southampton.
Better someone gets on the phone to find a replacement for our creaking defense !
Still no reply from LET on email ? I'll go back in late today see if I can get it nailed ?

No reply from the LET on our requests. If you can do anything from your side that would be good.
As for Desperate Dann going to Southampton, well that could be a good hat-trick for him -would make it three clubs he took down from the prem - Birmingham, Rovers and Southampton! Maybe our defence will improve just with his absence...

Although it's too little too late, I have a feeling that if we aren't performing after around 10 games Keano will finally get the sack! There's been two comments now in the last few weeks hinting that they've made it clear he has to get results.

Many comments here are irrational and speak out of prejudice but not based on substance. You condemn at everything about Venky's,Shebby singh or Kean without giving them a fair chance to improve the situation. Some are such an idiots who dont even know a little things about Shebby yet you are quick to pass unwarranted remarks not fitting to his colourful credentials. Just for you info Shebby was a former Malaysian national footballer and played for several local clubs producing great results. I am hoping so much the Venky's and Shebby singh will do their best to include this skillful footballer Titus James Palani in Rovers team I will be extremely delighted to see him playing in the new season. Good luck and may the Lord grant you success in your dreams. You obviously know nothing about football, in fact is that you Shebby.

I understand your frustration and anger as a Rovers fan. If I were in your shoes I would feel the same but there is something which makes the Venky's hold on to Kean I dont have a clue. In my opinion he should have gone long ago after the last game, he seems to be clueless to turnaround the club's downslide during the last few matches yet he is still there, I am puzzled.
EPL Fan - go and do some research on Kean's record (both footballing and criminal), and then give me a single valid reason why he should be managed of Blackburn Rovers. If you can manage that, please email me with this Friday's winning Euromillions numbers. You genuinely have more chance of doing the latter.
In my comment if you read carefully I only included Kean since he is still around so what I said as a whole. However I still feel Venky's,Shebby singh should be given time to work things out, identify the strength and weakness, bring in new players and a manager who has the reputation for turning things around and plot new strategies for the new season. When we make comments we should not make rash comments without considering pro's and con's, more importantly comments derived from racial prejudice. One has to understand, do you think the Venky's investing millions would let the club "rot" with bad decisions ? No businessman would do such a stupid thing unless he is insane, I am sure the Venky's are smart business people who "knows very well" what to do. I am writing this reply to you coz your quotes are reasonable to my comments unlike many here are irrational without substance. Once again I would very much like to see Titus James Palani in Rovers team in the new season, I will be extremely delighted to see him playing .
