Silva attempts to force Blackburn Rovers move

ADRIEN Silva has turned down Sporting Lisbon’s offer of a lucrative new contract as he sets his sights on completing his move to Blackburn Rovers.

The Portuguese midfielder has been in Rovers’ sights for the past couple of weeks but Sporting have been dragging their heels during negotiations in a bid to keep him.

Sporting are believed to have just offered Silva the opportunity to sign an extended deal with them - with his current contract expiring next summer – but the player has turned it down and told them he wants to quit the club.

Silva is already believed to have snubbed moves to the likes of Porto, Montpellier and Marseille, with Rovers and Sporting Lisbon now just needing to agree on a price.

Rovers have remained confident they would get their man throughout, despite the prolonged negotiations, with Silva himself now trying to help force through a move to Ewood Park.

Silva is a former Portugal under 21 skipper and is seen by Rovers as an ideal foil for Danny Murphy in central midfield.

I believe Blackburn Rovers have applied to the Football League to have the number of substitutes increased to 22 with a change of 11 players allowed during a match. This is a direct result of players complaining about sitting on the bench or in the stands and not getting a game.

French Rover says...

Get him signed!

Silva was actually born here in France and spent some time with Bordeaux as a young lad. The current French Champions Montpellier are very interested in signing him right now also.

3.5 million is the price mentioned in the French sports papers and there are other French clubs interested as well and also Stuttgart in Germany.

Looks like he could be a very good midfield signing for us!

Cheers Frenchie. If we can attract in-demand players such as Silva, then I see promotion as a real possibility. Looking like he will be a straight swap for Nzonzi

As always , Time will tell.
Going for the biggest 'pay day' does not always guarantee the requisite quality in return. Ask Carroll etc.

Silva has great potential. I've got to say, he would be a great foil for Murphy especially if Gomes is playing just in front.

That would be a very productive and balanced midfield/attack.

Who's making these signings? Seems much better than last season, just not sure why we didn't make them then. Beggar's belief......

I'm sounding rather pessimistic about our chances next season but at least we've some kind of management structure working in the background now at least. We need a good start to the season. Silva looks on paper to be a good signing and balance is key to a successful team. Here's hoping!

Could be agents BS again on their clients behalf, or maybe he sees it as a chance to shine in England. If he is successful with us you can almost guarantee a top premier league club will come calling within a year or two. Whereas if he goes to an average sized top French club, perhaps he would then attract a high sell-on fee to a top club (thus potentially blocking a transfer) as he would have been a champions league player – even though he would be getting champions league football in France he wouldn’t have a chance of winning the thing - so in the medium term a move to championship Blackburn could be a better option. If I was a young footballer I know that I would much prefer playing in England as opposed to France.

Morning Mr French :)

As good as this lad is lauded by a wider audience will his progression continue under such as the Odious One ?

I'm sorry, but my confidence in this imposter is zero%. I have no believe in him what so ever.

I guess we are going to find out soon enough, but after 4/5 games this should be the bench mark for the removal of this imposter.

Doesn't always work out, but Cotterill and Dyche have been shown the door by new owners, and I see and expect top class ex footballers will be installed as managers giving them the best chance for success ?

Us ? it's like something out of Beano, Dandy and Topper !

Lol, I think I am like you in that I am just desparate to find some good news. Knowing how the BRFC media machine works, it could just be another one of their gems: like when we got relegated last year, Kean's first speech was nobody is to blame and exciting times ahead. Still, as I have said before, if we can keep most of the team together and make a few more signings, then I don't really see many championship teams better than us - at least on paper anyway.

Fair comment, and good luck if we sign him. We must be offering the mother of all contracts if he is that desperate to come here rather than the others mentioned. More or less all of them, including his current club, have realistic Champions League ambitions (ours have taken a bit of a knock recently, in case you hadn't noticed) so he must be due to earn a packet.

On a separate matter; anybody know anything about an Ian Leigh and Bergander Sport?

They're some kind of management company and
Rovers' appear to be one of their clients. Their website says they are involved with Premiership and Championship clubs and shows our crest as one of them.

Have Venkys changed tack or are these just more fingers in the pie?

You could well be right, I remember the last time we went down, we were awful defensively as indeed we are again. The first season down turned into a fight to avoid relegation. This time, I look at other teams like Burnley who have aspirations of the playoffs, and I don’t think they have anybody, now jay rod has gone, that I would swap a player for. Having been underwhelmed by our transfers so far, if this one comes off I would be very pleased. So I expect it to fall through with the usual bullsh@t only to find further down the line they wanted 3.5 million and shonkys only wanted to pay 3.4 so we signed a galapagos islander who is 39 but showed promise in a beach football competition when he was 11 years old and shaggy was on holiday there diving with the turtles.

His excuses have run OUT !

Hello RR - four or five games benchmark for Kean? I hope so as I would love nothing more than to see the removal of the odious one from our club.

But normally (in different circumstances) then that does sound a bit of a short time/match target to judge someone on?

using four or five games a s a benchmark would mean that right now there is a big doubt in the owners minds about Keans ability (as indeed there should be) so if there is any doubt at all and based on last seasons disgraceful management record then why would they give him any games at all?

Just sack the man.

Kean has had all the chances he deserves, not that he deserved a chance in the first place. He was useless from day one and continues to be worse than useless. But unfortunately it is not up to us to get rid of him but the Venky's. If it means we have to put up with losing the first few games then so be it. It would give them time to appoint a replacement, if they can find someone daft enough to work for them. Probably the hardest thing fo them to do. Hopefully they have a contingency plan in place. But knowing their track record they probably haven't. Still we live in hope.

Can't wait for the season to start. It is very frustrating waiting to see how long he survives.

Is this the same Adrien Silva that has been on loan AWAY from Sporting Lisbon for the last 2 years ??
.
Firstly at Macabia Haifa and secondly at lowly Porteguese club Acedemica ?
.
The same attacking midfielder who has failed to score a single goal for Sporting Lisbons first team in his 5 years there.
.
I would be amazed if this "Sporting, Porto, Barca, Chelsea, Montpellier, Marseille etc etc" are after him, it is all bull$hit, put out by either his agent or the Rovers PR machine (just like they said Gomes had rejected Everton to come to Ewood - Everton has said today they have never had any interest in signing Gomes, nor had their been any contact with him or any of his hangers on or with his club)
.
Why would Sporting want to keep him at all if they rate him so highly that they've loaned him out for the last 2 years - that dosent make sense.
.
I've never seen him play so I don't have a clue if he is the next Messi or the next Modeste - only time will tell although I fear he's more likely to be like the latter rather than the former.

It's in the French sports papers and on French footie websites and has been for a while JC - so not conspiracy for you to find this time. Not even this contemptible lot at Ewood can access or influence the French media. And he will be a very good signing should we be lucky enough to get him.

I'm not saying he won't be a good signing - I hope he will be.
.
I've no idea if he's any good or not because I've never seen him play, have you ?
.
If not, how do you know he'll be any good ?
.
All I can go off is FACTS -

FACT 1 - He has never scored a single goal for Sporting Lisbon yet he has been their player for 5 seasons - thats hardly a stat to get our pulses racing.
.
FACT 2 - He has spent the last 2 seasons away from Sporting, firstly in Israel and then in the lower reaches for the Portuguese league -again, hardly something for us to be doing cartwheels about.
.
FACT3 - Last season we signed a senior Sporting Lisbon 1st teamer in SV who has hardly lit up Ewood since his arrival and in the greater scheme of things Silva would have been way down the pecking order at Sporting behind SV - so if SV can't make it at Ewood, why do we expect one of their reserves to ? - thats just illogical.
.
He may turn out to be a good signing but the way some people are reacting (when I doubt that any of us have actually ever seen him play) you would think we were trying to sign Messi's more skillfull young brother !

The only way it would be a good signing would be if anyone but Kean was in charge.

With this tactically-challenge
d no-mark at our club, Lionel Messi would look like Keith Andrews.

It's better to have a well organised and assembled team of poor players than a poorly organised set of good players.

See Allardyce, S vs Kean, S.

I would be amazed if this "Sporting, Porto, Barca, Chelsea, Montpellier, Marseille etc etc" are after him, it is all bull$hit, put out by either his agent or the Rovers PR machine (just like they said Gomes had rejected Everton to come to Ewood - Everton has said today they have never had any interest in signing Gomes, nor had their been any contact with him or any of his hangers on or with his club) . Why would Sporting want to keep him at all if they rate him so highly that they've loaned him out for the last 2 years - that dosent make sense. . I've never seen him play so I don't have a clue if he is the next Messi or the next Modeste - only time will tell although I fear he's more likely to be like the latter rather than the former.[/p]
It's in the French sports papers and on French footie websites and has been for a while JC - so not conspiracy for you to find this time. Not even this contemptible lot at Ewood can access or influence the French media. And he will be a very good signing should we be lucky enough to get him.[/p]
The only way it would be a good signing would be if anyone but Kean was in charge. With this tactically-challenge d no-mark at our club, Lionel Messi would look like Keith Andrews. It's better to have a well organised and assembled team of poor players than a poorly organised set of good players. See Allardyce, S vs Kean, S. AndyW

- thats just illogical.
.
He may turn out to be a good signing but the way some people are reacting (when I doubt that any of us have actually ever seen him play) you would think we were trying to sign Messi's more skillfull young brother !
i hope kean reads this hes into facts and stats but i bet he would have changed some of the words to make him look a world beater cant wait to hear who he compares him to because after reading the above he just sounds like a kean man come on steve start the buildup

Silva was actually born here in France and spent some time with Bordeaux as a young lad. The current French Champions Montpellier are very interested in signing him right now also.

3.5 million is the price mentioned in the French sports papers and there are other French clubs interested as well and also Stuttgart in Germany.

Looks like he could be a very good midfield signing for us!
it begs the question why would Rovers in the second tier be his preferred choice!

Just been looking at his history on Wikipedia, not very encouraging and the stats don't seem to support a fee of £3.5m for someone not playing at a high standard recently.
.
His agent is Tel Aviv based Pini Zahavi.

To late I am afraid. No matter what the headline you can rely on Lancs pensioner to get it back to slating Kean and Venkys. I am pretty sure everyone feels the same as Lancs does including the ones that have renewed their season tickets. However it is beyond boring reading it all the time. For all his and others moaning (I do understand why) it has not achieved anything and only contributes towards fans falling out with each other. Surely this is a good news item that someone wants to play for BRFC and therefore should receive the correct comments.
Lads, Point taken and apologises given, I will try harder to be more positive next time, its been a long closed season, believe it or not I am just getting over last years disapointments, for my clubs sake I wish the new players well and the club as a whole to,

Why are there always so many nagative comments on here? Yes everyone knows that nobody wants kean as manager but putting things like "dont come here you fool" are not productive nor helpfull. It is time to get behind the team as this is what true fans do. I dont want kean as manager either but posting it on here wont get you anywhere (nor anywhere else for that matter) an article about a decent looking player coming to Rovers should be kept to posts about the players ability and so on...

I think you are missing the point here Benal13......the fact that other decent clubs genuinely want to buy Silva makes anything Kean says or doesn't say totally irrelevant. (as usual)! And why you say he is a 'Kean man' makes even less sense.

When are these halfwitts going to strengthen the defence?

we were one of the best teams at the bottom of the league going forward last year, but we let too many goals in.

Each transfer window they look to strengthen the mid and attack, and then funny enough we let loads of goals in can't think why.

The defence has been decimated with the loss of top players, they were replaced with up and coming and very little else, and do you know ever since the good defenders were pushed out, we have been very poor at the back, there has to be a reason.

Is anyone responsible for the football played at Ewood, Or is it just about getting some desperate cheapos to keep those who don't actually care about the club long term happy?

This is their third transfer window and they stock pile mid and attack again, but forget to bring good defenders in, who runs this club?

yes you need to say more....what about the other clubs that are genuinely after Silva? How are they being duped? And JC's facts don't tell all the story and don't mean anything to the other clubs involved. Nor does the fact that Zahavi is involved - as he is a licensed agent despite his history and every player has an agent. Its crazy that every transfer Rovers report is described as a conspiracy by someone on here and usually its the same people everytime....its getting beyond being ridiculous now.

I hear we are trying to sign the Bishop of Blackburn as he is good with crosses and Carl Fogarty as Kean has heard how many corners he has taken.

Haha! Sadly both would be considered great signings at Club Mad.

Why should we worry or get excited about anybody that Kean signs? His track record with his past signings is just as bad as everything else he has done at Rovers.
Most of the 'exciting' players he has signed he has refused to play except in emmergency and he is now trying to sell them on again. Petrovic, Formica, Goodwillie, Rochina have all, so we hear in the press are all surplus and can go.

French Rover already confirmed Silva interest and Everton have yet to make an official statement. I say this is more about what You want to believe and fair dog's, but if it insults your senses so much why bother paying any attention to it?
Because its affecting our club.

John Terry's verdict due today.

According to the (Daily) Telegraph, the judge "...must decide whether the Chelsea captain intended to offend Ferdinand when he used the words “f------ black c---”.

Errr.

Perhaps he was just expressing his preference.

Bergander Sport seems to be. Rovers is listed as one of their clients.

They are a sports management company which advises on all aspects of running a club. Everton, Chelsea and Newcastle are also their clients. It may explain the sudden change of tack by appointing a load of new officials and actually speaking to the fans, albeit through a "Global Advisor" and our former press officer.

It may also explain why Kean has been relatively silent this Summer.

The first piece of advice they should have given was "For God's sake, tell that heejut to keep his head down and his mouth shut".

Well, perhaps that should have been the second; the first should obviously have been, "Do yourselves a favour and just fire the useless b@st@rd".

I agree.
.
There have always been dodgy dealings in football, 'brown envelopes' etc. The agents are more recently on the scene and the massive amounts of money involved in today's game simply invites people to get a piece of the action.
.
The business is corrupt because the dodgy deals are known about and allowed to happen. Players and managers all know but will never speak out because too many are implicated.
.
Problem for us at Rovers is that it's all a little bit too much 'in yer face' to stomach at present.
.
Sadly the only honest people in the game are the fans.

Pini Zahavi is also a close advisor of Mark Hughes, and played a major part in the deals to bring Chris Samba, Benny Mccarthy and Roque Santa Cruz to rovers. So shady, mybe, but e also has a proven track record in delivering quality players and not many people had objections to those transfers!
