Dramas galore in county finals

THERE was plenty of drama at the SPAR Lancashire Secondary School Games which were held in Preston recently.

Despite the torrential rain, hundreds of spectators turned out to cheer on pupils from 50 secondary schools across the county at UCLan’s sports arena and St Augustine’s Sports Centre.

And just like the primary school event, there was plenty of success for local schools.

Bacup and Rawenstall Grammar School won the netball thanks to a golden goal from Jess Fogarty.

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy were joint winners of the rounders with Ridgeway and Pendle Community High starring in the Quad Kids Athletics.

And Clitheroe Royal Grammar School narrowly lost 5-4 to Hutton in the handball final – a game both sides refused to come off due to the rain.
