Friends, victories and games galore!

A whistle-stop tour of Yorkshire has been hailed a success after Clitheroe Cobras returned having made many new friends and lots of memories to take into the remainder of the season.

The four teams from Chatburn Road played a total of 17 games between them in three days across the White Rose county including fixtures at Skipton and Harrogate.

The U13s returned undefeated from their five fixtures while the U11s blotted their copy book by losing a close final game at Skipton.

The Cobras Girls side suffered their only defeat in their final fixture at Cullingworth – a defeat coach Bill Smith put down to the excitement of meeting with England player Sarah Taylor.

Cobras chairman, Farouk Hussain, said: “It was a wonderful three days with great social interaction and some excellent cricket played by all teams. It was the first time we have taken a girls team on Tour and they acquitted themselves brilliantly against all boy opposition – losing only one match. It just shows that our girls are making tremendous progress. Meeting an England player and watching the ladies county fixture will give our girls the extra motivation to reach those standards.”
