Nzonzi left out of Rovers' Austrian training camp

STEVEN Nzonzi has been left out of Blackburn Rovers’ pre-season training camp in Austria as the midfielder seeks an Ewood Park exit.

The 23-year-old Frenchman’s representatives have informed the club he wants to leave after last season’s Premier League relegation, leaving the club freezing him out of first team affairs until the issue is sorted.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands Rovers won’t stand in the player’s way but sources close to the club say they value Nzonzi at in the region of £10million.

Rovers won’t allow the player to leave ‘on the cheap’ but are believed to be ready to keep Nzonzi away from the Championship prep-arations as his future gets sorted.

Nzonzi has been linked with potential moves to Arsenal, Stoke City, Spartak Moscow, Villarreal and Borussia Dort-mund over the past 12 months.

Rovers have yet to receive any formal bid for him though and are prepared to make Nzonzi train with the reserves until he is ready to pledge his commitment to the club.

It is understood the club have been informed by Nzonzi’s repres-entatives that he does not want to play outside the top flight.

Nzonzi signed for Rovers from French second division side Amiens for in the region of £500,000 back in June 2009.

He signed a bumper new five-year deal the following year after an impressive debut season alerted some of the Premier League’s top side to his potential.

Nzonzi finished last season on the substitutes bench though, amid rumours of training ground bust ups, with Rovers keen to avoid the risk of any unsettling influences being around the squad.

The presence of the want-away Chris Samba last season did Rovers few favours, with sources close to the club saying Nzonzi has been left training at Brockhall on his own to avoid similar problems.

Rovers’ Swedish international Martin Olsson has also not travelled to Austria but he has been granted more time off, having played in last month’s European Championships.

Olsson’s agent insisted before Euro 2012 that staying at Rovers was “not an option” for the left sided player but no further talks are understood to have been held over his future.

Rovers meanwhile are also keen to keep hold of Gael Givet next season, despite the player understood to be wanting to renegotiate a ‘relegation clause’ in his contract.

Talks continue with Sporting Lisbon over midfielder Adrien Silva as Rovers look to make him their fifth summer signing.

I would expect Cryer and the rest of Agnew's extended PR department to be busy with putting a positive spin on a series of these exit stories over the next few weeks.
I expect that everybody from last year's first team bar Dann, Dunn, Orr and Pedersen to be training "on their own at Brockhall". You won't be able to move down there for ostracised players.

The point of so many in the majority saying 'good luck' to him rather than 'stuff him', tells its own story.
Under 'normal circumstances' everyone would be saying the latter, but our circumstances are not of the normal variety.
You say he has not pulled up any trees, but is it possible that his leader and mentor has had anything to do with this 'failure'?
I do not know if you feel that the team/players can perform to their optimum under SK leadership, but if you do then we should still be in the prem. (as again, the majority believe).
It would appear that the one constant in all of this is one man, whether that is purely because he is in the position he is, or simply: he is the wrong man in the wrong job, I will leave you to decide.

These days players and agents have the power, not much you can do if they wish to leave. They are doing the right thing keeping him away from the squad.

Still wish they would look for some good defenders instead of all these ordinary Portuguese players.

Another over inflated French ego after a good first season and should have improved but really disappointing for us last season. The lad though has that magic word - 'potential' - which has never been fully 'realized' here at the Rovers - or so his agents say.

Hard to really tell if he can go onto another level but will anyone pay 10 million for unrealized potential.....not in a zillion years unless its one of the Russian clubs. If he stays in England then the most we can expect is 3 to 4 million tops. Sell if we have a buyer at the 10 million otherwise keep him and play him alongside Murphy.

As stated in several occasions at the end of the season this is just the start, have you noticed the transfer money NEVER gets reinvested, Assett stripping at its best and this is one of the reasons Kean keeps his job with Venkys, he is making them money.

Totally agree - I can't beleive everyone posting that he's rubbish - class player who holds possesion - not kick and hoof, thats why clubs like Arsenal and Brussia Dortmund (German champions for last 2 years) are looking at him.
.
As for £10m value - that sounds about right to me - if we get £8m in the end then thats just about right - bear in mind that J-Rod, a lower division 22/23 yrs old who couldnt make the England U21s last summer has just been sold for £7m.
.
As for "buying big to get us back in the PL" - spent £3m, 1 old English has been, 1 Portguese has been and 2 Portugese never beens who will have never encountered anything like the English championship. Put that against the selling, Yak, Hoilett, Robinson, Nzonzi, Formica and Olson - all of our better players.
.
Then you have Dann (they'll off load him for the money if they can), Givet, will leave if he dosent get his wage increase, Goodwillie, reports coming that Kean wants to off-load him (he never wanted Goodwillie in first place, he wanted Pavone), and Rochina was very unhappy with being on bench since Jan and could leave if he gets a decent offer from Spain.
.
A strong team to chalenge, having lost 8 or 9 of our best players and replaced them with a mixed bag, oh and throw in the worst manager in the division and a club still at war with the majority of its supporters - promotion, hmm, I wouldnt put too much money on it !

Well, a survival team would be better than last season. Nevertheless, I think that everybody at the club wants promotion and is planning for it. They may not be very good at their job, they may be away with the faeries, but they think that they are planning for a promotion season.

building for next season ,, your havin a laugh,, there putting together a relegation survival team
Well, a survival team would be better than last season. Nevertheless, I think that everybody at the club wants promotion and is planning for it. They may not be very good at their job, they may be away with the faeries, but they think that they are planning for a promotion season.
I wish they were building a survival team.

We already have a left back and a centre half (Givet) almost guaranteed to leave and now our only defensive midfielder. With Desperate also likely to want away, we have no defence to speak of and no replacements mentioned.

These players were all likely to leave so why have they not been replaced? After last season's defensive debacle we needed strengthening in that area more than any other, even if we had kept these players.

Like I say, this guy thinks defence is something that goes around de garden.

Planning for the Premiership? He really is on a different planet.

it is reported that Robinson has gone with them to Austria in a 26 man group. Seems a bit odd that Robbo is there? All the 4 new signings are there so maybe you can work out the 26 from that like below:

Robbo, Bunn, Jake Kean, Hanley, Henley, Dann, Givet, Orr, Morris, Cotton, O'Connor, Pedersen, Marcus Olsson, Dunn, Goodwillie, Lowe, Murphy, Gomes, Blackman, Nunes, Rochina, Formica, Petrovic, Best, Vukevic, and Slew would be my guess at the 26.

Dont think that Linghanzi, Riberio or Myles Anderson will be there but would like the LET to confirm the squad that went please?

It isn't; it's a natural consequence of being relegated.

The gripe I have is there has been no sign of any replacements or even anything being done to address the blindingly obvious problems that got us relegated.

Midfielders who can keep the ball is one thing, getting it in the first place is a different matter.

Even Brian Laws would have known that.

When Nzonzi played well, rovers played well last season. He was the stand out player for most of it. Anyone who went to Everton away witnessed a midfield passing master-class against some very strong opponents, similarly he was brilliant against a 10 man Fulham at home slipping a sumptuous ball through to Formica; cracking goal against QPR etc. Anyone who thinks that he is poor is a fool, the lad is pure quality. He got disillusioned like the rest of us with SK and at a guess he said something hence his admission from some of the team at the tail of the season. Steven will go far in the game, and we should have done everything in our power to persuade him to stay; pay him Murphy’s & Gomes’ salary etc. He will be a bigger loss than Yak or Hoillet for sure.

Careful now, that is tantamount to treason under Keanos regime.

Just remember Venkys and Kean are the main player's here, and all they want you to do is just listen to their sabre rattling, pay up and take it.

More trouble at mill :(

Deluge from the heavens, and the river Darwen is lapping at the doors of Ewood !

N'zonzi is up in arms having failed to progress under this lot, and now £10 million quid being quoted for his wantaway services by these greedy bug eyed imposters. Now we are debt free(according to the oracle) just what will this money be invested into should he be sold on in that region ?

If we don't hit the ground running I see pretty hard times ahead. That said, I would expect the Odious One to be shown the door ?

Smiles and sunshine ? Nah, just dark clouds and pouring rain - he he :)

3 weeks ago I posted that 13 players had asked to leave Ewood.

Yakubu has gone, Hoilett will go very soon.
They may soon be followed by Nzonzi, Formica, Givet, Dann, Robinson, Olsson, Rochina, Goodwillie.
Thats 10 players for a start, without the likes of Vucavic & Petrovic who again look like they will be frozen out next season.

Shebby Singh stated that Rovers were tying to sign all their new players before the start of pre-season training last week. This hasn't proved possible and they are still 'locked in negoations' to sign yet another Portuguese player Silva.

If he arrives that will be just 5 players in against a possible 10 - 13 players out.

Any fees recovered will therefore not be reinvested in the team - aka Samba last year.

For those supporters who are currently toying with the idea of buying a new season ticket - I would be very very careful as you may not recognise the team come 18th August.

Maybe they can spend some of the money on flood defenses if my beautiful River Darwen is running high..? Should be easy to catch the rainbow trout today!

Maybe we should cast away the odious one on the River Darwen in a small rubber dingy so he can sail away down into the Ribble estuary and across the seas to Ireland where they seem to like a load of Blarney.

They certainly seem loathe to spend it on our football defense - unless - they believe that both Dann and Givet will stay? If either goes we will need direct and decent replacements as a stingy defense is key to getting out of this league.

Yes still troubled times RR...hope all is ok with you otherwise?

Well, a survival team would be better than last season. Nevertheless, I think that everybody at the club wants promotion and is planning for it. They may not be very good at their job, they may be away with the faeries, but they think that they are planning for a promotion season.
They may be planning, but I believe it will be a tough season in the championship, i'm not expecting the top half!

it is reported that Robinson has gone with them to Austria in a 26 man group.

Morning Mr French :)

Arte et labore

Yes, all good sir :)

Now that would be a good send off ! I reckon it would be a sell out crowd to witness that one !

As supporters we are fed snippits of info, and argue about the validity until a year or so on when they can't be hidden any longer.

These players know far more than us, and have had to work with that knowledge, knowing they are not allowed to divulge the sometimes unbelieveable internal inadequaces, and knowing it is as near to corrupt as they have seen.

It must be near impossible to produce your best performances under these conditions.

Under mad Kean you go along with his total lack of ability and lies or you ask for the club to set a price for you to leave which you know will be heavily influenced by the mad bad one.

That's as near to torture as these players have ever come.

It's just a shame that no one at Ewood can break ranks and stop this greedy destruction of not only the club, but the carreers of most who work there.

To be honest I wouldn't shed to many tears about any of the present team leaving they could all be replaced none are that special.
Exceptions would be Givet,mr 100%,Henley,Hanley and Lowe who all have promise and if I'm honest I do like Nzonzi but with Murphy we need some mobility in midfield so maybe the cash could improve the team if it was spent.
Keans big failing is he can't decide on a system he wants to play so he can't assemble a squad,so we are left with mostly under performing misfits.

When you look at the farcical situation when Givet was left out because his head wasn't right, it is hardly any surprise that certain players no longer want to play for us. In that game were Givet was left out at Swansea, Nzonzi looked like he was barely interested for the bulk of that match.

Much as I hated his attitude and as desperate as I was for us to win that game, I have to blame Kean for Nzonzi behaving like that. He was aware that one of his better team mates was being frozen out due to him giving Kean his honest opinion. It comes as no surprise to learn that Nzonzi now wants to leave, who can blame him?

I I have rarely known a team as de- motivated as Rovers were in certain games last year. We all know Kean has real short commings in almost every area, but to have a demoralised squad is the pits. He is totally to blame for this and to have to put up with more of this next season stinks.

The midfielder is hoping for a fresh start under new manager Andre Villas-Boas.

I wonder if its the opportunity of the fat pay deals he's regretting?

Maybe he wants back lol

but why? I just don't get what ties them down THAT much. Money yes, but if you've gone and been gone for a while, there's little stop you "leaking" the truth.

All we get is Kean's new buds telling us what an amazing chap he is and how they couldn't wait to play for him!

The likes of John Williams and co. seem to get a lot of praise on here as do the Walkers Trust, yet not one of them have put their heads above the parapet and told the truth, and pound to a penny if Nzonzi goes, he will deny any altercation between him and the follicly challenged one.

WHY?!

These people owe us an explanation.

You seem to get your info at the exact same Steve Kean does, to the micro-second in fact.

Arsenal approached Rovers for Nzonzi last season, its no great suprise they have come back as asene cheapskate venger seems to be related to venkys. He offered 8 million last year and now figures he's worth less, but will slot right in to a top five team midfield.
Nzonzi is a real class act and for supporters on here to say otherwise shows their level of football knowledge. What they seem to have forgotten already is that Nzonzi was being asked to play by the arsehole that is steve keanochio, would you be frustrated as a player? I'm pretty sure you all would be when your getting stuffed every week and you see slgado in dubai and never to play again nelsen, who can only move his eyelids going to spurs.
I don't know sometimes I wonder about the intelligence of my fellow Rovers fans.
Steve Kean out. End of nose supporters please do likewise.

And so it begins.

The "look we are signing players please renew your season tickets" ploy is finally revealed as it becomes clear that our modest additions to date will simply precede an exodus of biblical proportions.

As fans we are frustrated that the Inept One has been allowed to continue. Imagine how frustrating then that is for the first team, who see at first hand on a daily basis the complete scandal that Kean's continued tenure represents. Poor tactics, poor signings, poor off-field conduct, terrible results = new contract?!

Any senior player who has anything resembling a suitable alternative will be off in a flash. The money recouped will, as with the sales Kalanic, Jones and Samba simply disappear without trace. When the club bought Best they fell over themselves to tell the fans it was a £3M deal, I wonder if the same desire for transparency will apply to our summer sales.....I very much doubt it.....it will be undisclosed fees all the way with the club down playing the sums received.

The actions of Kean and Venky's get a lot of ridicule on here, yet what if their actions to date are deliberate and on strategy. Whilst this is nothing more than a fear of mine, consider for a second that you are charged with taking over the Club that Jack Built and then extracting from it every penny you could in as short a time as possible, and irrespective of the state the club is in at the end of the game. A sort of perverse version of championship manager. If that was your game then you could do a lot worse than mirror what has happened at our club to date. You could look to hang in the Premiership as long as you could whilst selling all of your best players. You might then, on relegation, look to sell all remaining valuable players, slash staff, cut wages and by doing so maximise the parachute payment and player sales monies that you can extract. This strategy will ensure further relegation with even more cost savings. When in the lower leagues and with the parachute money running out, you could look to sell major assets such as the Brockenhall Academy for housing on the justification that a League 1 or 2 club cannot sustain such an extensive academy. Throughout this period you would need to try to disguise your actual intentions by making a signing here or there, might use clever PR strategies like a complete shutdown of communication with the media and fans when things got so bad that sacking the manager became impossible to explain, and/or could pretend to be ill-informed, all to distract people from the real aim. At the same time you would need to appoint loyal henchmen, people with no sense of self-respect or honour, people willing to spout anything to try to cover up your real aim. You would have to show similar loyalties to these people, with contract extensions and promotions, otherwise your strategy might get ‘outed’.

When all that is done you would look to exit the club at the end of the game ‘admitting’ you are not cut out for football ownership and perhaps even try to spin the facts to claim a ‘loss’ given that the sale of the club will then be for significantly less than you paid for it, albeit conveniently ignoring all of the money you will have extracted from it during your tenure. By the end of a process like this you might have doubled, maybe tripled your investment and will not have broken any laws. The only losers would be the club and the fans.

I really hope my perverse game of championship manager is not taking place in Lancashire as we speak.

Come on Andy , do your research ,
we would all like to know.
it is reported that Robinson has gone with them to Austria in a 26 man group.

Reason why Robinson was on the Austrian trip was because Besiktas deal fell through and they signed McGregor from Rangers instead. I wonder whether it was money again?

Either way, looks like Robbo isnt on the exit list anymore at the moment. Shame, I wanted to see Bunn in the first team.

I really hope my perverse game of championship manager is not taking place in Lancashire as we speak.
Unfortunately that is not a perverse view, imho, it is the facts about what is happening. You've put into words what I've been thinking and probably what most of us are thinking.

I hope the BRAG report is sufficient evidence to stop this going any further...

I personally feel it is not the done thing to slag others off within the football community as what comes around tends to come around again.

The only slagging off I have heard beside Terry having a go at Ferdinand is Kean having a go at Sam but that was voyerism at its worst and Kean's mouth runs off all the time without his brain realising.

We now need to start getting defenders if we get cash from N'Zonzi and if this Silva player is good just pay the price it will be recovered as soon as we renter the billion pound Premier league again.

I just wonder if we do achieve promotion with or more likely without Kean will the Venkeys put the necessary wedge into the team to retain our status or will we be doomed to failure again due to lack of investment?
The fact is now is the time to get good quality young players in and make them play as an organised team the only problem is .............. yeah your right well maybe we will get a new one after the first few matches who knows.

Maybe he wants back lol
maybe some of the players who have just left could spill the beans on the present goings on but sadly it seems they have all been paid to keep quiet

Come on Andy , do your research ,
we would all like to know.
it is reported that Robinson has gone with them to Austria in a 26 man group.

Reason why Robinson was on the Austrian trip was because Besiktas deal fell through and they signed McGregor from Rangers instead. I wonder whether it was money again?

Either way, looks like Robbo isnt on the exit list anymore at the moment. Shame, I wanted to see Bunn in the first team.
So did I, statistically speaking Robbo was the worst keeper in the EPL last season, and by a long way as well.

what a load of tosh whoever think's all these mouthy footballer's have paid off and everyone has kept qiuet is deluded. If something is going on do you not think the likes of john wiliams would have told the correct authorites, these conspiricy theories are the most ridiculous things i've ever heard.Your telling me for all the people that have crossed kean venky's not 1 of these people have accidently spoken out it's utter nonsense.Use your brain's Venky's are here for the long haul and have serious cash, they obviously trust kean(god know's why) so he will be here for a while until they see sense
Venkys have "serious cash" - where is it then ?? They have been here for 18 months and have MADE net profits from EVERY transfer window and I will bet you £1,000 that they do so also in this transfer window.
.
Also, you have you head stuck in the sand so far, you don't even KNOW who our owners are !
.
As for saying that JW has not spilled the beans, how do you know ? - because someone has (prob JW or the other 2 directors that left at the same time).
.
As for no proof out there - you convienently forget the internal Rovers memo leaked to Sporting intelligence a few months ago regarding the Formica deal - this document on its own highlighted numerous FA rule infringements. Also we know that at least 2 FA departments are currently investigating Rovers and had quite alot of documented evidance BEFORE the meeting with Rovers fans, so I would suggest that some people (likely JW or his fellow ex-directors, amoungst others HAVE been spilling the beans) - to the proper authurities.
.
I can also tell you that numerous recently ex-Rovers players have given avadavits on what they know about the current situation at Rovers.
.
No doubt you'll slag my article as its easy for you to do rather than get off your own ar$e, keep an open mind and go and find out for yourself what other people know - its not easy, but it is do-able.
.
I presume you are just a happy clappy fan but honestly, you sound like Agnews right hand man - "theres nothing wrong down at Ewood", "nothing illegal/irregular has ever happened at the club", last season was "disapointing" but now the club has learnt all its lessons" bla bla bla.
.
You are probably so naive you probably think that SK and SS are "best buddies" and are "pulling in the same dirrection" - they are not! - Singh was appointed AGAINST the advice of SK and SK/PA were apparently livid at his appointment, not least because Singh now reports directly to Mrs D instead of SK and SS does appear to hold proper power unlike his predicessor Paul Hunt.
.
Whether you accept the facts or not, we are a club in turmoil, the club at war with a large proportion of its own customers, we are being investigated by the FA, our "owners/directors" are involved in an internal power struggle (see Kamys latest podcast) and the vast majority of our best players will be leaving during this transfer window.
.
Still I'm sure that givet85 will put at positive spin on it all !

I agree with you never in the history of this club or any other club I dare say as there been such a conflict of emotions going on concerning the supporters and the utter lies and turmoil and god knows what devious goings on by the parties involved, but oh no according to Agnew we have to wipe the slate clean, with them raking the money in and spending Bugger all on transfers trying to con us into thinking they are all of a sudden concerned with the situation and are doing their best to remedy it,they have destroyed a fantastic club and they are still at it.

Surprise surprise...our transfer business is almost complete on the buying side. Now its time to sell off some more of our assets and bring in another £15-20m. The sale of Nzonzi and Olsson, should help to boost the cash intake for the year to a nice round £30m. The only surprise is that a few thousand people have renewed their season tickets and therefore given their support to these clowns. All I would say is that, once the season begins (and with it further misery), I don't want to hear a single grumble from any of these people. Steve Kean the Pied Piper of Blackburn...

I think we may be being a tad harsh on Nzonzi here. Sure, he hasn't had the best of seasons, but that's purely down to the manager. He just can't get the best out of the players. He hasn't got the sufficient man management skills required. That's why everyone worth their salt wants to leave. The only players that want to stay, are the youngsters trying to make a name for themselves, and the only players that want to come here, are the has-beens wanting a last big pay day, and the young foreign unknowns that want to come to England, hoping to strike it rich.

For those supporters who are currently toying with the idea of buying a new season ticket - I would be very very careful as you may not recognise the team come 18th August.
most teams who get relegated lose most of there best players look at bolton they lost at least 10 cud be more now not really took any notice thats what u get when a team gets relegated so i cant see why u think its just us in that problem surely the team we field the coming season cant be as bad as last season

Time to go Keano, time to go.[/p]
Put that against the selling, Yak, Hoilett, Robinson, Nzonzi, Formica and Olson - all of our better players. . Then you have Dann (they'll off load him for the money if they can), Givet, will leave if he dosent get his wage increase, Goodwillie, reports coming that Kean wants to off-load him (he never wanted Goodwillie in first place, he wanted Pavone), and Rochina was very unhappy with being on bench since Jan and could leave if he gets a decent offer from Spain. . A strong team to chalenge, having lost 8 or 9 of our best players and replaced them with a mixed bag, oh and throw in the worst manager in the division and a club still at war with the majority of its supporters - promotion, hmm, I wouldnt put too much money on it ![/p]
