Jensen set for new Burnley deal

BRIAN Jensen is expected to finalise terms over a new contract at Burnley after rejoining the squad for pre-season training yesterday.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Clarets despite being offered terms at the end of last season.

Jensen made only four appearances last term after losing his place to Lee Grant following a lengthy injury lay-off and his future had seemed uncertain, with the possibility that the Dane may decide to seek first-team football elsewhere.

But he opted to return for the first day of pre-season yesterday and is now closing in on a new deal with the club.

New contracts are also on the table for fellow keeper Jon Stewart and striker Alex MacDonald, with a resolution expected next week.

Good news for burnley he will help in the relegation fight and wont cost a penny, which is good and will help burnleys small budget due to small crowd attendances and high debts to help ease the players bill.
Love hollands spud pies.

Better than the present keeper but that is not saying much. Need to do what it takes to strenghten this department and fast! Poor keping cost us too many avoidable goals last season.

Jensen over Grant anyday, plus his seniority and experience is a good and necessary addition to the squad, we could do with a good young ish keeper for Jensen to pass on his skills to. Im glad THE BEAST has signed up then we're not just relying on Grant.

Far far better than Grant, totally agree with Exiled claret and McClaret,so we now need another decent keeper who Jenson could help along the way.The problem here could be,was Grant another expensive Laws buy on large wages who is still in contract? If so we'll be stuck with him unless we can ship him out on loan somewhere and only pay a percentage of his salary

Too fat, too slow, too old, too much of a liability - Grant is a far better keeper imo and I reckon will prove that next season with hopefully a more solid and stable defence/midfield in front of him.

People forget that Jenson has had just one good season in the nine he has been here - but because he gives the fans the opportunity to yell BBBEEEAAAASSSSTTT as he falls on a routine shot or plucks a poor cross out of the air.

Must get rid

No you will find the vast majority of Burnley fans think Grant is absolutely useless You are in a tiny minority if you think he's any good his performances last season were awful, even the Blackpool fans were laughing at him at Bloomfield Road.

Lee Grant is what he is - a Championship goalkeeper - he will make mistakes and invariably those mistakes lead to goals, similar to the fact that occasionally Charlie Austin will miss the easiest of chances (Blackpool at home) - hence why both players are plying their trade in the Championshi and not the Premier League.

Have people really forgotten just how bad Jensen is? - remember the Wigan game at home, apparently a bruised ego is enough to substitute him, sorry he is shockingly bad and Grant is a better keeper without a doubt.
