Ribchester's Morgan making progress in Touring Car series

RIBCHESTER’S Adam Morgan is hoping to continue improving his standing in the British Touring Car Championship after an impressive performance at Croft, writes Liam Shaw.

Morgan managed to complete all three races at the weekend and qualified in 11th place before finishing 14th in the final race of the day.

That allowed the former Stonyhurst College student to get some championship points on the board, as the series reaches the halfway point.

“Overall it was pretty good.” said Morgan. “Yes I was happy, however I would have liked to finish higher. My pace was very good but my results maybe don’t reflect that.

“I believe in my ability to get to the top. I wouldn’t be in the sport if I didn’t think that.”

Morgan is in his first year of the British Touring Car Championship and despite a highly competitive and experienced field, Morgan still believes he can reach a top five finish towards the end of the season.

“I have the pace to be in there but I just don’t have the luck at the moment,” he said.

Morgan remains optimistic that he is improving in every race and will be looking to build on his three finishes at Croft.

With the next race not until August 12, Morgan revealed that testing is needed over the mid-summer break.

“The set-up is going to be improved,” he said.

“We’ve had some mechanical issues that will be looked at.”

The next race will take place at Snetterton.
