Claret Trippier to turn to cricket at Padiham

CLARETS star Kieran Trippier will swap his Burnley football boots for cricket whites and will be the star attraction as Padiham stage their annual ladies day and charity fundraiser on Sunday.

The fleet-footed full back has agreed to turn out in the T20 match at the Arbories as a Padiham CC Select XI take on a Breast Cancer UK Select XI, which starts at 2pm.

The gates open an hour earlier and admission is £5 with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer UK.

Trippier will be the main guest and other celebrity faces taking part include Read professional and Lancashire star Jordan Clarke, former England and Lancashire ace Ian Austin, Darren Foy and Will Driver.

There is a ladies-only marquee with entertainment from singer Gavin Young from 4pm until late in the evening.

Padiham spokesman Callum Clarke is looking forward to the day and said: “All money raised from ticket sales, raffles and auctions will be donated to Breast Cancer UK and we are hoping to raise more than £1,000.

“And it’s not just for the girls. Everyone is invited, it promises to be a great day.”

Like so many footballers, they think they are prima-donna's, guess what. Keiran Tripper didn't turn up.
