Football League fixtures 2012/13: Dates set for derby day
9:00am Monday 18th June 2012 in Sport
By Matt Donlan, Sports reporter
THE biggest game in the East Lancashire football calendar between old rivals Burnley and Blackburn Rovers will take place on Saturday, December 1 as the two sides prepare for the Championship season.
Following Rovers relegation from the Premier League derby day has been eagerly anticipated across the area and the pre-Christmas Turf Moor showdown - the 94th meeting of the sides - is certain to attract a full house.
The rematch will take place at Ewood Park on March 16, 2013.
Rovers begin life in the Championship at Ipswich Town as the season kicks off on August 18, while they go to Leeds on September 1.
They entertain Bolton on November 28 and travel to Middlesbrough on Boxing Day, while Nottingham Forest are at Ewood Park on New Year’s Day.
Rovers finish their campaign at Birmingham City on May 4, 2013.
Burnley kick off their campaign with a Turf Moor showdown with former boss Owen Coyle as Bolton come to town on August 18, while they host Blackpool on October 20.
The festive period sees Derby County at Turf Moor on Boxing Day, while the Clarets cross the Pennines to Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day.
The trip to Bloomfield Road takes place on April 13, while Burnley’s final game of the season is at home to Ipswich on May 4.
In League Two Accrington Stanley kick off their season at Southend United on August 18, while ex-boss John Coleman visits the Crown Ground with his Rochdale on October 6.
The Reds go to Morecambe on November 6 and visit league new boys Fleetwood on November 20. They are at Bradford on Boxing Day and entertain Chesterfield on New Year’s Day with the season ending at home to Oxford on April 27.

Your standard is Championship Football no more no less. BRFC fans will now find out how hard the championship league is with constant Tues/Sat/Tues matches.
BRFC are no better or any less at this moment in time than any of the other teams.
Don't think it is going to be an easy ride and presume BRFC will easily beat the Clarets, the lack of experience in a more fiercer league will sorely test your team.
All BRFC fans should remember in the forthcoming season how the derisively called it the "Chumpionship" so welcome Chumps.

Your club is in total disarray, run and owned by inepts. Sad for BRFC you haven't a settled, consolidated and well organised club such as BFC. This season's first game will be a rude, sharp shock to anyone connected with BRFC.
Notice, no infantile insults BRFC won't be lording it over anyone, the only mincing that will happen is when BRFC are put through the grinder of reality that it is not a "special club" but one that is rapidly sinking to obscurity by the managements own actions.

Yes BRFC are a spent force, they should be renamed Venky Rovers. All the "moaners, whingers etc are facing the reality of the situation, that is why they are constantly trying to find ways of displacing these incompetent fools. I looked at some other championship clubs and Hull are at 440 quid for their cheapest ST, while Leeds are at £522. Newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday adult ST is £365 for earlybird and 412 after. Forest are 370 for existing STs and 392 for new STs. Barnsley are one of the lowest at £335.
Burnley's cheapest ticket is 399 quid - but you can get 50 quid off that price if you buy one in the next two weeks. Their season tickets only went on sale today.
Blackpool had them on at 338 but they are now 384 quid.
Bolton's earlybird offer can be had for 285 with a full price of 319 quid. They say they had sold 11000 season tickets at the end of last week.
Cant see us getting more than 8000 ST sold before the season starts personally. Only way that will be any higher is if Kean and Venkys are gone in the next couple of weeks.
Should be some movement on selling the club soon....

Ok so you have owners that have't got a clue and a manager who appears to be braindead, but so have a lot of clubs who have been relegated recently into various divisions - most of their supporters have still purchased their season tickets though because above all THE CLUB MEANS EVERYTHING.

Genuine, well organised and reasonable arguements such as are being put by the BRAG seem to me the only way out of your predicament.
Without rubbing it in or trying to rub salt into the wounds I wonder how all those who showed great delight in the sacking of Big Sam feel now?
The people who ran the Walker Foundation as well must shoulder some of the blame in their headlong rush to get rid of the club. I also agree that there could be a case of neglect under 'Due Diligence'. I can't help but feel those who are tryiong to take the club over from among the supporters won't be able to raise anywhere near the amount needed to purchase it. Then again, if they do who among them have the nounce to run a full professional club and take it forward?
In all honest I think it is sad to see what has happened but unless someone similar to the owners of Cardiff, Southampton etc comes along it is going to be a real rocky road for BRFC.
BFC has gone through nearly a similar situation in the past but not when saddled with the same type wage bill, self-centred players and owners who haven't a clue about what is expected in UK for running a club; a prime example is the proposed appointment of the go between for the Venkys and the club, I cannot remember his name but it seems his experience lies within Asia and not the UK.
So good luck except of course for 1st Dec and 16th March

Although the much-berated Fit and Proper Persons Test is nothing more than a box-ticking excercise to satisfy the PL that they won't have to step in and bail out a club, surely the executives at The Walker Trust should have seriously done their homework regarding selling something that was so close to their founder's heart.
They didn't and the supporters have ultimately paid the price for their greed.

I am sure that when you add up the appearance money saved on all the players that did not play for that reason, it was no where near the cost of relegation. I'm not too sure if this point was put to the authorities by BRAG at the meetings, but it is also against premier league rules not to play your strongest side available.
I would say Ryan Nelson falls into the same category as as Michel, as the world and his wife were told he had a crippling injury and would never play again. Despite that he past a medical at Spurs and QPR!

1889 Football League 'Test Match', Stoke 0-0 Burnley
Suspicions of foul play in football go all the way back to the 19th century. At that time, the Football League only had two divisions; First and Second. At the end of the season, the top two teams from the Second Division and the bottom two from the first would enter a 'test match' play-off to decide which clubs would play top flight football the following campaign. All four teams would play each other for the remaining two places in the First Division. In the 1898 Test Matches, Stoke and Burnley entered the last game knowing that a draw would ensure both clubs' place with the elite, at the expense of Newcastle and Blackburn. What followed was a 0-0 result – the so-called 'match without a shot at goal'. This sparked claims of cheating and, consequently, Test Matches were immediately scrapped and automatic promotion and relegation was introduced.

Yeah yeah yeah, its always different for the bstrds innit?...how else do clubs find themselves going from top to bottom you cck. Your case is no different to many a club gone previously.
Your biggest problem now is not a footballing one. Your problem is that the infrastructure of the club is being dismantled. Football wise you could quickly recover if managed and financed correctly, but putting the infrastructure of a club back together again in the ruins of what remains is another task entirely. This would have to be done first if the football is to recover. There's a bloke with recent experience of such a task who may be able to give you a few tips, his name is Barry Kilby.

Some clubs over load themselves with debt and come unstuck. Some mis-manage the books and come unstuck. Some make a poor choice of manager and blindly back them until the money is gone then come unstuck. Some bid to cash in on their most valued players and develop the ones further down.
Poor ownership is poor ownership and you are no different to other clubs who have been failed by poor owners. I know it feels unique to you but sadly you're not the first and doubtless the last.
Glasgow Rangers look like having to reform and start all over again from the bottom. I'd say their fans have it worse than you.
Its no good bleating on to everybody about your terrible demise, its just a sad fact of footballing life these days that clubs occaisionally do a wobble for whatever reason and sink. People are hardened to it now so you'll just have to wait for it to finish then look to rebuild what is left i.e. Burnley, Leeds, Portsmouth, Rangers, etc.
By then venky's may have decided to change the club colours to red and do away with the club badge in favour of a new one, but i suppose you'll bleat on that this can only happen to you lot.
Last night i heard a Claret singing a song,

I'll try to make it simple for you.
Rovers have had good times and bad, been relegated before, but still loyally supported the club.
For us, having corrupt and incompetent management and ownership dismantling our club is a new experience.
Many feel that it has gone too far and withdrawing financial support is the only way to encourage them to leave.
If this was happening at Burnley I'm sure you would still be there throwing your money at them, singing your happy songs and never complaining.
There is a famous quote, "all that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing".
Its highly unlikely anybody would ever go asset-stripping in Burnley but if they did I'm sure you would sit back and smile.
