BLACKBURN ended the season as they had started – with a victory over St Benedicts.

The scoreline suggests a closer game than it really was Burn let the Saints off the hook after racing to a 29-0 lead before allowing the visitors three unanswered tries.

Blackburn made the best possible start, Danny Holland making a break and Richard Maudsley spotting a gap in the Saints defence to score the opening try.

Pete McVeigh added the extras. Lewis Bromley then went over in the corner to make it 12-0 with just six minutes on the clock.

A third try arrived in the 26th minute when McVeigh scored in the corner after good work by Marco Vaghetti. Steve Bibby then came off his wing, broke several tackles to score to make it 22-0.

Tom Marland scored a fourth try with McVeigh converting before the Saints late fightback.
