JOSH McQuoid says he is happy at Turf Moor after Burnley boss Eddie Howe reiterated his potential interest in signing the on-loan Millwall man this summer.

McQuoid joined the Clarets on a temporary deal in January, with the 93-day loan due to expire before the final game of the season against Bristol City on April 28.

The 22-year-old scored his first goal in a year in Monday’s 2-1 win at Doncaster, finding the net with a superb dipping effort from 25 yards, and admits he has thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Clarets.

McQuoid still has two years left on his contract at parent club Millwall but had fallen out of favour under boss Kenny Jackett at the New Den, with his last start for the Lions coming in August.

And his happiness at Turf Moor could yet open the way for a possible permanent deal at the end of the season.

“I’ve definitely enjoyed it,” said McQuoid, who previously worked with Howe and assistant Jason Tindall at Bournemouth.

“Wherever you go, as long as you’re playing football and you feel you’re doing well then you’re going to enjoy it.

“It’s obviously a great team and it’s been enjoyable playing with all the lads.

“I knew a few of the lads when I came as well as the manager, assistant and some of the staff so it was pretty easy to settle in.

“Playing wise I think I’ve settled in from the start.

“I played a couple of games, came out, and now I’ve been on a little run.

“It’s good for me to get games and play well.

“When you’re given a run of games your confidence grows.”

Howe has never ruled out looking to sign McQuoid on a permanent deal and following the Doncaster game he again suggested he could be interested in the Northern Ireland international.

“He’s a Millwall player and I respect Kenny Jackett and Millwall immensely, so it’s a case of let’s wait and see,” said the Clarets boss.

“But we think he’s done well.”

Burnley sit six points outside the play-off positions with four games remaining in the season.

And, with relegation-threatened Coventry the visitors to Turf Moor on Saturday, McQuoid is keen for the Clarets to finish the season on a high - whether it is enough to make the top six or not.

“All the lads know it’s a long shot but you just keep going until the final day,” said the Southampton-born forward, who would not be able to extend his loan for the play-offs if Burnley were to make a suprise ascent up the table.

“You never know what can happen. Coventry are fighting for their lives so it will be a tough game because they need to win.

“But we’ve just got to continue, whether it helps us this season or next season, because we need that momentum.

“We’ve been unfortunate because we’ve played a couple of games that we lost but didn’t deserve to.

“It’s hard to take but there’s nothing we can really do about it.

“We’ve just got to keep on going and keep on playing well until the end of the season.

“It’s going to be hard but we’ve just got to go until the last day and see where it takes us.

“As long as you finish the campaign well then it’s always a good high going into the next season.”
