Blackburn Rovers win Modeste appeal

BLACKBURN Rovers have won their appeal against Anthony Modeste's red card at West Bromwich Albion.

Modeste was sent off for violent conduct on Saturday and was ruled out of last night's defeat to Liverpool as he started a three-match ban, with an appeal not able to be heard until today.

But that appeal has now been successful and the striker will be available for the weekend trip to Swansea City.

Isn't it amazing how in different countries we have different words for the same thing.

Like sports shoes. In the UK they are called 'Trainers' as they are worn when you are training.

In Ireland they are called 'Runners' as they are worn when you are running.

And in America, they are called 'Sneakers' for when you are sneaking to the fridge.

The first full year in Venkeys control the average attendance was 25,000

This season the average attendance is 22,301 which is a 5,413 fall in attendance from 1996.

Might be what is needed for the Venky's to realise they are not wanted, needed or trusted. And convince them to sell up and feck off, something I believe every fan of BRFC wants... Kean is just a symptom of the disease that has spread through the club I grew up following, the real cause of the issues at B/burn today are the asset stripping Venky's and their money grabbing advisor Anderson... rovertillidie says...
4:51pm Wed 11 Apr 12

Ok we know Modeste is of little use.

My point is this why was the hearing delayed until after the Liverpool game? Man U played QPR on Sunday the day after we played....well were beaten by West Brom. Shaun Derry's appeal was heard yesterday ahead of their game tonight, so where is the logic here??

Or did we not put in the appeal until it was too late....it must be an administrative error on the part of BRFC because the Premier League would surely not put our appeal behind the Derry appeal.

To me it is another example of a poorly run club from top to bottom.

That said he is little more than useless, along with Goodwillie et al. Thankfully Yak and Junior have kept fit.

Right back in the mire after tonight's results and unfortunately we seem to have been going backwards in the last few games - the defence is totally shambolic and it always looks like we're going to ship goals - oh, for an experience centre half who can get things organized at the back. "Makaveli,s" mother should be give a red card for buying her wee lad a joke book for Christmas.

Well, only two (maybe three) defeats away from the final conclusion to the season and no more of the old & pointless clichés coming from conman Kean and Dunn (what was that all about "we have to stick together".....well they certainly did that v Liverpool ....because the marking and Dunn,s performance was very much lacking & Sunday pub team football standard at best....and that would be after a heavy night on the booze !!!).
Do the club really deserve your monies for next season tickets after the lack of
leadership from the top down to team manager and on the field performances PLUS the lack of respect re the long-standing concerns of the supporters and sponsors.
I think NOT ....

Coach Taylor says...
11:27pm Wed 11 Apr 12

After seeing wigans performance and qprs tonight it is clear that they have better players. They didn't sell their best players over the last twelve months like we did. They also play with two quick and mobile front men, something we haven't done in 3 or 4 yrs. Its got to be 2 up front on sat with hoillett out wide, try and get a win and pray for results. But kean won't do this, he's clueless and therefore relegation is inevitable.

We need to change our tatics for Saturday as nothing else but a win is necessary to give us any chance of staying up. Kean must realise that losing 4 games on the trot is down to his tatics and the quality of the players selected. The fact is we need pace up front Yak may score goals but he does little else up front so he needs a quick partner with him . Marcus is not up to it and regretfully Dunn and Pederson are too slow
for the Prem maybe its time to try something different in midfield or to do what Sam did as points are more important than pretty football as if we ever get anything better than Sam used to serve up.

The difference in us and the other 3 teams (excluding Wolves) apart from the managers is that they have not deliberately weakened their own squad during the relegation battle. I hope that when we are relegated, Kean is man enough to apologise for his stubborness, false assurances, lies and accusations about Rovers fans and maybe admit that we did not write to admit we were wrong and instead admit he was wrong. If this man gets any kind of managerial award, it will be a travesty and a kick in the teeth for the fans. I can believe anybody has paid for another season ticket at this stage. What is the hurry? Sadly, its over folks, I think. Wigan and QPR showed how you do it! Wigan got a result no one would if thought possible but determination saw them through. QPR beat a side but in front of them and we lost to Liverpool reserves with hardly any spirit what so ever.
If we stay up it will be only a matter of time before we are relagated with with Venkys and co in charge so maybe this is a good thing (in a sick way) that we go down to hopefully get the club back in the town by the fans owning it (if money can be raised in such tough times) and get rid of the Venkys and co!

I've been going down to Ewood since 1957, but I'm sorry I wont be going again till this lot are out of Ewood.
I can't support these liars.

Ridiculous comment! I've been going to the Rovers since the 70's seen us in three different divisions. I'm still going to support the team whatever. I don't like the current regime but there was a club here before Jack Walker - he was great for Blackburn so maybe the club is better off without the glory hunting I'll only support Rovers when we're in the Premiership fans! Or maybe we should look back to the 1890s and say goodbye to all that was built then or the same for the 1912-13 team, or the 1928 team or the 1960 cup final team! Unfortunately for me, I came over from Belgium with my wife and four boys to watch the game. I spent the equivalent of about four season tickets and I have to say Mr Kean that was a disgraceful performance. Did you tell Grant Hanley to rugby tackle everyone he was marking or did he make that one up himself ? It was shameful, just as it is shameful that you are hanging on to a job that you are not qualified to perform. Take my money, you cheat, because you won't get any more.

You obviously never caught the train out of Blackburn after a match in the 80s, they were full of Rovers fans travelling home. Same goes for cars leaving Blackburn after matches. If you had the best interests of Blackburn Rovers at heart you would stop coming out with this utter nonsense.

I am afraid you've got this all wrong. Season tickets may not make up a huge proportion of the income however a drop in attendances of 15000 plus will make them notice. If we all renew as you intend to they will assume the slight drop was inevitable and proceed as planned. I fully intend to return at some point next year when something changes ie Kean out and Venkys either out or showing some ambition.

Hopefully there will be enough of us taking this stand to force their hand supporters like yourself are making it harder for us to get our point across.

Thanks for that reasonned and well thought out statement. Read the posts properly and you might see that I don't have a problem with those not re-newing, just the suggestion that those who do contribute to the destruction of the club and hence 'enjoy' the lower leagues - as a Rovers time I've had plenty of time enjoying the lower leagues and have no problem with that or with cheering on the boys who do wear the shirt.

Ok, I don't neccessarily disagree with this idea. However, I think from a business point of view it will ultimately be the drop in revenues following relegation that will ultimatately make them notice - they think about money as a priority and not the fans, so I suspect that a big fall in attendance won't be a deal breaker for them. So when you intend to return at some point next season how much do you think season tickets will costs and what about fans who struggle to pay for them, if they choose to renew now are they helping to destroy the club? Also, how are you going to measure the point at which you feel it is the right time to return? just when Kean is sacked, so will it depend on who the new manager is? what level of 'ambition' will swing it for you?

I haven't renewed yet but you've made my mind up for me and I definitely will be. RTID!
Couldnt agree more.

At least in the 80s it was the real fans! The ones who lived in the town, were born in the town, worked in the town, and some who died in the town!

I will be at MY EWOOD long after the Venkys have gone!

My prayers will be answered.....
Hi Gudari,
I meet all your criteria, apart from the fact that I haven't died yet.
I've been going down to Ewood since 1957, but I'm sorry I wont be going again till this lot are out of Ewood.
I can't support these liars.
Fair play to you, at least you're not going to give up on them! Supporting your team is all about bad times and good times: Believe me , I know what the bad times are all about. There will be a lot of people watching Manku on Sky next season having previously put away their blue and white scarves safely in the wardrobe!
I am sure these fans want to watch Rovers and hate Manky Utd. Its about the way the club is being run and the most disliked and worst performing manager in our history and naive owners who make Baldrick's plans look good.
.
If you don't make a stance for change at ST renewal then your comments afterwards as far as Venkys are concerned are as important as a snowball in hell.
.
Having been going since 1965 I will not knock any Rovers fan if they renew or don't as these are strange days - but just think on if you are unhappy at present then thousands of fans not renewing in the short term is the best way to get them to take notice?

Enjoy the lower leagues there will be many years of them ahead! R.I.P. to all that Jack built!
Ridiculous comment! I've been going to the Rovers since the 70's seen us in three different divisions. I'm still going to support the team whatever. I respect this comment, but the suggestion that those who choose to renew are contributing to the downfall of the club is wrong. Financially season ticket sales are small change in the scheme of things. Irrespective of that, I will be supporting the lads who put on the blue and white each week - irrespective of what's going on in the background. I will also be taking up a share option with the proposed fan ownership scheme.
Also, how are you going to measure the point at which you feel it is the right time to return? just when Kean is sacked, so will it depend on who the new manager is? what level of 'ambition' will swing it for you?
when I said "complicit" in the destruction of this club, I meant in a inadvertent not delibiberate way. By re-newing you are obviously seen to be condoning the behaviour of these clowns. By sticking together and withdrawing our financial support we can get the message over that we have had enough. As to when will be the right time to return...obviously first and foremost kean has to go, the man is a walking disaster for our club, and the venkys have to either come good with some of their promises or make way for a new regime. Whoever that may be. As for the cost of season tickets, you can't judge the quality of the management by the price of season tickets. In the end this will always be governed by the region we live in and the ability to pay. The only level of ambition I wish for is to see my club run in a sensible and realistic way, and the supporters treated with a little respect, and not as a gang of criminals...which as been the case this season. As for anyone re-newing, thats their choice, but I feel more people are realising that withdrawing their support is a valid tactical attempt to change things.....after all nothing else seems to be working! Good luck with whatever you decide!
