EAST Lancashire squash star Laura Massaro is on course to defend her National Squash Championships after she continued her majestic run in this afternoon's semi-finals.
Massaro, who plays North West Counties League squash for Blackburn's East Lancs, swept Ireland's Madeline Perry aside 11/4, 11/9, 11/3 in Manchester to reach tomorrow's showpiece.
The 28-year-old won the event last year and marched into the final in fine style to ruin Perry's birthday.
"I'm really glad I came through 3/0," said Massaro.
"The second was brutal – she was 6-3 up and we had a really hard rally and I broke my racket, but I managed to push on.
"The event has such a rich history – and it’s good to get your name on that trophy alongside all those greats – I want to get as many titles as I can before I retire."
Massaro has yet to drop a game on her way to the final.
