BETHANY Widdup will be looking to add to her growing reputation when she competes in the English Alpine Championships at the weekend.
The Clitheroe Royal Grammar School pupil has already tasted British and European glory and heads for the slopes of Bormio in Italy looking for more success.
The 16-year-old from Colne who previously British and European Indoor champion in her age group – and has been working hard ahead of her trip to Italy.
She said: “I am looking forward to the racing, the pizzeria and just generally being in Bormio.
“I hope to continue to succeed while continuing with my studies.”
The Colne teenager first took up skiing while on a family holiday. She already has a season of Alpine racing under her belt having competed in Italy, France, Switzerland and Austria last winter.
She is a member of Chill Factore and Ambition Race Teams.
Bethany will be one of more than 500 skiers that will descend up Bormio for the Championships that run from February 10-17.
The Championships, organised by the national governing body, Snowsport England, will consist of seven events covering minis to seniors from regions all over England who will participate in the week-long event.
SSE chief executive Tim Fawke said: “Bormio is the perfect skiing destination, snow conditions are always great. It’s an amazing venue for such a fast and exciting event.”
