ST AUGUSTINE’S High School is chasing county glory on two fronts after reaching the Lancashire Schools Indoor Athletics Championships.
The Billington school were crowned district champions at boys under 12s and under 13s as they beat all other schools in the area at the District competition held at Oakhill’s College in Whalley.
The under 12s team will be flying the flag for Hyndburn and Ribble Valley this afternoon in their finals in Blackpool. The under 13s finals take place at Hyndburn Sports Centre on Tuesday, February 28.
Andy Kelly, lead teacher of PE at St Augustine’s was delighted with the success of the school’s two teams.
He said: “It was a fantastic achievement for both our boys teams to be crowned district champions and there were some superb performances, both team and individual across both the track and field disciplines.
“The boys showed character and determination to succeed and they thoroughly deserved their gold medals.”
The under 12s team, captained by Adam Roberts, included Ethan Grogan, William Bellard, Elliott Kiss, Frankie Jackson, George Kelly and Callum Boardman.
And the under 13s team, captained by Taylor Hawcroft, Oliver Odudu, Luke Philipedes, Ryan Isherwood, Bradley Newell and Jack Southern.
