Rovers fear losing star on the cheap

SPECULATION Junior Hoilett SPECULATION Junior Hoilett

BLACKBURN Rovers could be entitled to less than £700,000 in compensation if Junior Hoilett returns to Germany at the end of his Ewood contract.

Hoilett’s current Rovers deal expires at the end of June and the club have so far been unable to tie the Canadian to a new contract, even if they have not completely given up hope of persuading him to stay.

The 21-year-old has already been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle and Bolton but German giants Bayern Munich are the latest club to reportedly hold an interest and a move abroad could significantly affect any fee Rovers would receive for the forward.

Rovers would be entitled to compensation under the terms of the Bosman ruling because Hoilett is under the age of 23, but transfers between national associations are subject to different rules.

Should Hoilett join an English side a fee would be decided by tribunal if it cannot be agreed between the two clubs.

Rovers would at least push for something approaching the fee Manchester City received from Chelsea for Daniel Sturridge in similar circumstances in 2009 – an initial price of £3.5m rising to £6.5m.

Hoilett, though, could poten-tially be tempted by a move to Bayern – having previously had loan spells with German sides Paderborn and St Pauli.

His younger brother Jaineil currently plays in the country with Mainz, and FIFA regulations allow Hoilett to hold talks with overseas clubs before the end of the season.

Should he decide to move abroad, Rovers would receive a set fee based on FIFA’s pre-determined ‘training costs’.

If Rovers are classed as a top ‘category 1’ club, according to 2011 regulations they would receive 90,000 Euros for every season that they trained the player.

Hoilett has been with Rovers since moving from Canada at the age of 13, even if two of those years were spent on loan in Germany.

That would equate to as many as nine seasons and potentially 810,000 Euros – around £670,000 – although there is a possibility Rovers may receive much less than 90,000 Euros for each of Hoilett’s initial years at the club, when he was under the age of 15.

Hoilett’s international future has again made the headlines after Jamaica announced that they are making attempts to persuade him to play for them.

Hoilett has so far turned down call-ups from Canada and qualifies for Jamaica via his father.

Rovers were yesterday assessing the ankle ligament injury sustained by full back Jason Lowe in the 7-1 loss at Arsenal at the weekend, as they make preparations ahead of Saturday’s home game against QPR.

Michel Salgado has reportedly been in talks to link up with former Real Madrid team-mate David Beckham at LA Galaxy, with the Spaniard looking to find a new club after being made surplus to requirements at Ewood Park.

If, and I mean IF, we are still to be a premier league team at the end of the season and Junior has played a part in that, then it doesn't matter if he leaves for next to nothing, the premier league money will more than outweigh any lost transfer fee.

I would love to see the telegraph print a section showing the promises made by Venky's and Kean and what the actual outcome was.
e.g. Hoilett will sign in the next 24 hours - leaves on a bosman
4 experienced players in to hit the ground running - Tim Payne, Marcus Olsson, Bradley Orr and Modeste
£5m in each transfer window - maybe, but we thought you meant £5m available to BUY players, not what you would charge the club for management services paid for with outgoing transfer fees!

He was poor against Newcastle and absolutley crap against Arsenal. I'm still waiting for him to hit a Rovers player with a cross.

Should have got shut in January and used the funds to strengthen midfield. Although there are three issues with that:

1. Hoillet ain't that good and won't reach the fee that mismanagement think he's worth.

2. Kean is the manager and thinks Petrovich is a Premiership player. God knows who he would buy for the money? Who would want to sign?

3.Venkys would just pocket the money.

Stay, don't stay. Don't really give a sh anymore. He'd be lucky to get a game in any established top flight side.

Don't tell me the player and his dad don't realise the cheaper the fee a club has to pay, the more is left to give the player in wages and a signing on fee. Therefore they are winding down the clock until pay day.
*
A contract is signed by both parties and Hoilett obviously isn't interested on or off the pitch.
*
Junior didn't have a nightmare against Arsenal (or Newcastle come to that). More like he didn't turn-up and do anything. If he does nothing up front, has he ever thought about doubling up on pacey wingers? Whaaaaaat?
*
Cheers Junior. You will be really missed - noooooot!

Yes Junior will sign today - yes Junior will sign in 24 hours - Junior is happy at the Rovers - we buy four players with Premiership experience hitting the ground running - judge me in twelve months - our season starts now (four times) we will not be relegated - I am happy with my signings they will shoot us up the Premiership - a top ten position is within reach - we definately wont be relegated - and now players leaving on the cheap - nothing new then just 'lie after lie and fairy tale after fairy tale' - just what we have come to expect from Kean and his team!!!!
Out with Kean Out with the Venkys!!

whilst i agree with you there is no reason why it is in hoilett's best interest to sign a new contract (unless it is loads more moolah on a short term basis) the fact remains that pinocchio has strung everybody along again on another of his tourettes style lies - kean has this impulse to say the first thing that comes into his head (champions league, europa cup, top 10 finish, no way we going down, more money to spend than ever, ribero the new dennis irwin, formica the new batistuta, i get 500 letter of support every week and reply to them all....) and his comments about junior signing are another of thes inane ramblings (a bit like your "not bigger, just better garbage"). QED Kean is to blame for this. If there is nothing to say, dont say nowt! Perhaps Kean is only passing on what he has been told. If Holiett says he is going to sign his contract soon, then that is the message that Kean passes on. If he is told by the owners that he has got more money than ever then thats what he is going to say. Of course he is going to say that Rovers are capable of a top ten finish its belief in his players - the fact that everyone laughed at him says more about Rovers than Kean.

If that REALLY was the case, then WOW, that must be a new record in stupidity even for venkys/kean.
10, 12 15 mill, dont matter, it would have been better than this....

As far as junior rather wanting to leave than stay, we all would have done the same. CL football vs this chaos is not a hard choice.

And as far as not selling him in january, its been a long long time since he had a good game and id much rather watch a hungry rochina/simon get the chance than an uninspired hoilett.

Heads have been turned and the lack of concrete interest in the transfer window should concern Hoillett.

He has talent going forward defensively he is weak and after 12 months of 1st team football he has failed to improve. So much for quality coaching it is just like our defensive frailties when will the Manager and his staff get to grips - my fear is never because thedo not know how and they dont have the who on the playing field any longer - Nelsen may have been passed it but at least he knew whats what.

I do feel sorry for you mate because inadvertently, your posting represents the popular view we have of a Burnley fan. Bitter and twisted
I am just trying to help my friends in Blackburn become better people. I offer the hand of friendship and my sage advice and what do I get in return? Vitriol.

Do you really think I take any kind of pleasure reading about your pain? It's with a heavy heart that I anticipate your demise and possibly 6 easy points off you next year.

But despite this pain, I still do it, I offer my support. And how do you repay me?

Moochers and looters, the lot of you.

No.33 Ryan Nelson on the bench for Spurs last night obviously confirms his fitness and yet another pack of lies from Steve Kean. No wonder Samba wants out after being hoodwinked into signing an extended contract full of hollow promises from the Venkys. It's simply appalling that every supporter can see what's happening in front of their eyes, yet we are powerless to prevent such a degradation of duty. Fans will eventually turn their backs through no fault of their own and the damage will take years to repair. Shame on the memory of Jack Walker, the trustees should hang their heads.

I used to be frustrated, then angry, and now the situation at ewood is so bad, what with ex players/directors etc stating what we already suspected.

I just dont care anymore!

Be relegated, loose money, I dont care.
You stupid arrogant Indian fools!!

The trouble is, you lot will move on, pehaps to ruin another sports venture with a proud past, but unfortunately, I was born and bread here and what you have done will never be forgotten!

Another nail in the coffin of a once proud industrial English town.

I will not comment anymore about BRFC, I really have given up.

If he goes to Bayern for £700k where do you think the balance of the "transfer fee" is going? In the familys back pocket!
.
Can anyone give me ONE reason why its in Hoiletts best interests to sign a new contract?
for a dingle midas you usually show an above level of insight and intelligence - but in this instance you have missed the point.
.
since spring 2011 pinocchio has been telling us that junior is about to put pen to paper in the next 24/48/within the next week* (*delete as applicable). in fact at the close of the summer 2011 window pinocchio actually told us that junior had signed the renewed contract.
.
whilst i agree with you there is no reason why it is in hoilett's best interest to sign a new contract (unless it is loads more moolah on a short term basis) the fact remains that pinocchio has strung everybody along again on another of his tourettes style lies - kean has this impulse to say the first thing that comes into his head (champions league, europa cup, top 10 finish, no way we going down, more money to spend than ever, ribero the new dennis irwin, formica the new batistuta, i get 500 letter of support every week and reply to them all....) and his comments about junior signing are another of thes inane ramblings (a bit like your "not bigger, just better garbage"). QED Kean is to blame for this. If there is nothing to say, dont say nowt! Yes, Junior's dad has given Kean the runaround - but Kean should not go jumping in there with a few inebriated quotes after a liquid lunch.
.
Hope this clears this up for you...now you go back to believing that everything Kilby and Flood do is marvellous.
For a grintwum/b*stard you show the level of insight that can be expected....i.e. none or very little!! By the way, Compared to your "board/owners" everything Kilby and Flood do IS marvellous!!
For a ginger, Scottish, Burnley supporting, inbred b*stard, YOU show the level of depravity that can be expected....i.e. your sister is also your girlfriend, and quite possibly your mother!

Unfortunately Bill, not EVERY supporter can see through this charade, that has unfolded over these last twelve calamitous months or so. And as long as there are supporters daft enough to carry on giving these charlatans money, through ticket sales and merchandise etc, then they will continue with this 'project'.

The ONLY way to get rid of these PARASITES, is to starve them of funds.

The worst part, as the Rovers balloon rapidly deflates, is that we didn't get a period of flying high. At least teams like Leeds got a few seasons of being a giant before they went pop...

We need the miracle that was Martin O'Neil coming in now but Desai seems to be of the mind out of sight out of mind.
An investment that went wrong! Who gives one about the Blackburn working class people who love their club?
Its just inexcusable!

All comments on here pretty much have it (except for that boring goon gunari who we can just ignore he's not intelligent enough to respond to - so don't).
Not Keans direct fault, but oh what a part he's played in the debacle.
Personal view of Junior: not convinced. He may come good (ish) at some point, but at pres. he's just a guy running with a ball who stands out amongst the rest that can't or won't (cept Olsson).
Not a regular end product at end though.
For each and every player, its about them, so don't be so surprised.
As for losing money: thats only a prob if you've got a long term strategy plan to move the club on. I think we can all agree that it is blindingly obvious that's not in the Venky script.
If it is, it is the most confused plan ever devised.

GLOBAL PR DISASTER
Venky’s purchase of Blackburn Rovers has left them with a global PR disaster.
If the Rao family (picture above) plan was to put Venky’s on the map using football it has worked beyond their wildest imagination. What they did not envisage however was that it would be such a total disaster. Venky’s did not realise the publicity power owning a Premiership club would bring, to leave a mess at Blackburn Rovers would be a global public relations disaster, it would destroy the credibility of an entire region in India and those at its helm.
They have to make a go of it. But are failing to do so as BLACKBURN ROVERS plummet into free fall and out of the BARCLAYS PREMIERSHIP and into oblivion.
As protests at their ownership are broadcast worldwide through television, radio and newspapers their brand name is associated with failure.
As VENKY’S look to open more fast food outlets throughout the UK,USA, Europe and the subcontinent the brand name is tainted.
Venky’s means Blackburn Rovers through the eyes of the consumer and Blackburn Rovers means failure, simple as.
Venky’s reluctance to invest with substantial finance in Blackburn Rovers by appointing an experienced and creditable manager and signing good players poses the question WHY DID THEY BUY THE CLUB?
It has done them nothing but harm.
Unlike Sheik Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nayhan, owner of Manchester City whose plan to put Abu Dhabi on the map using football has worked beyond all wildest imagination. What it means though is that those who smugly predict that one day Sheik Mansour will tire of his toy and depart, leaving City with an unsustainable business model and on the brink of collapse, could not be more wrong.
Abu Dhabi could not quit on City now even if it wanted to, its image and those of its worldwide business interests would destroy all their credibility. They have to make a go of it and Sheik Mansour knows it, unlike the Venky’s.
