JAY Rodriguez’s first-half goal saw Burnley build on Tuesday’s 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest with an impressive victory at Millwall this afternoon.

The opening period produced few chances but Rodriguez fired the Clarets ahead in the 36th minute.

Ross Wallace pulled back a low corner to the edge of the box and David Edgar dummied, allowing Rodriguez to lash into the bottom corner.

Half-time substitute John Marquis had a goal ruled out for the hosts after the interval, while Lee Grant saved from Brian Howard’s free kick.

Junior Stanislas missed a chance to make it 2-0 when he curled wide from Chris McCann’s pass but Grant was forced into action once more to keep out Liam Feeney’s far post volley.

Hamer Bouazza then lashed a 25-yard shot inches over and Edgar appeared to get in the way of Marquis’ header as Burnley hung on for all three points.

The Clarets have now taken seven points from their last three games to climb to 14th in the Championship table.
