SIMON Vukcevic is expected to complete his £2million switch to Blackburn Rovers today as Steve Kean looks to bolster his squad this week.
The 25-year-old Montenegrin international passed a medical on Friday before returning home over the weekend to pick up his visa.
Kean confirmed Vukcevic’s move was “almost there” and it is hoped he will be signed from Sporting Lisbon in time to make his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
Kean also said he was expecting a defender to fly in for a medical today after a bid was accepted. It is understood the player in question is FC Dallas centre back George John.
The Rovers boss continues his efforts to add another striker to his squad with Hoffenheim’s Bosnian forward Vedad Ibisevic a serious target.
Kean is also hopeful Junior Hoilett will commit his long term future to the club imminently with his family expected in England to seal the signing of a new bumper contract.
Meanwhile, Rovers target Raul has pledged his future to Schalke amid speculation he was set to leave.
“I never tire of repeating that I feel at home at Schalke,” he said.
