Accrington Panthers will join up with Leyland Warriors and Swinton Lions to form a new club for summer rugby.
The clubs will form Accrington and Leyland Lions RLFC and will enter into the Rugby Football League National North Summer Conference playing regular fixtures throughout the summer from May to August.
The club has also entered a team into the ‘Merit League’ to develop inexperienced players.
Merit League fixtures will be played as a ‘curtain raiser’ to the National League matches.
The club is all set to take matches ‘on the road’ with games planned to be played at Accrington Panthers home ground at Livingston Road and at Leyland Warriors home ground.
It is also planned for Swinton’s coach, the former Salford coach Steve McCormack, to guest at some training sessions and help develop the club coaches and pass on some expert tips to the players.
Swinton Lions will also provide playing kits for the teams and training will take place once a week, alternating between Leyland and Accrington.
Anyone interested in the club can contact East Lancashire Community rugby league coach Neil Quinn on neil.quinn@-swintonlionsrlc.co.uk
