Darwen’s Ian Cox of the North Lancashire Road Club turned out an excellent ride of 56 minutes 22 seconds on the A6 Garstang based 25 mile course early on Sunday morning only to find that he had dead-heated for top spot with ex-Rossendale member Ged Millward who now lives in Yorkshire.

Burnley’s Rob Dickinson clocked a sub-hour 59-22 but congratulations are due to the tandem pairing of the James Prossor and Gil Craske from Church who beat the one hour barrier for the very first time with a wonderful 59-54 performance.

The final 10 mile on the Hapton course for this year was won by prolific winner Rossendale’s own Paul Warrener in 24 minutes 17 seconds beating team-mates Roy Flanagan (25-22), Julian Monk and Adrian Watts (tying on 26-23) and Patrick Hamilton (26-51).

If you rode with the Blackburn-based CTC section in the 1950s and 60s you are welcome to join the reunion at the Bonny Inn at Salesbury from 1pm onwards next Wednesday.
