ACCRINGTON Stanley insist their plans to assemble a squad for the new season will not be affected by the latest transfer embargo to hit the club.

Stanley are currently unable to register players because of new rules, voted in at the Football League’s recent annual meeting, putting any club that files its yearly accounts late under embargo.

The Reds are still to file their accounts for the past year but chief executive Rob Heys believes the delay will not result in the club missing out on players.

“We can sign players but we can’t register them,” he said.

“We’ve got six weeks until the start of the season, though, so there’s not a problem at the moment. It’s to do with the 2009 accounts but we hope to get that done in the next couple of weeks.”

Stanley boss John Coleman has agreed new contracts with a number of his squad and is due to sign Alex Cisak, Craig Lindfield and Michael Hall.

The Reds, who were late paying players’ wages this month, are closing in on two or three more signings.
