Jones: My Blackburn Rovers league debut was unreal

PHIL Jones described his Premier League debut as ‘unreal’ – before backing Blackburn Rovers’ stars of the future to complete a Chelsea double tonight.

Jones was withdrawn from the squad for tonight’s FA Youth Cup semi final second leg at Stamford Bridge to fill the void left by injuries in Rovers’ first team.

The 18-year-old was man of the match and said: “That was unreal.

"I really enjoyed it. I wish I was playing (in the Youth Cup) though.

"The boys have done brilliantly to get to this stage and they can go one further.”

Great debut by the young lad - even the MOD pundits (Hansen and Dixon) praised him last night! Fame indeed! Dixon also had some good words to say about the team in general. Isnt it funny how peoples perceptions of us can change so quickly! One minute we are the devils children the dirtiest fouling team in history and the next we are the brave, battling Rovers!

His performance yesterday was great and its fantastic to see a fearless old fashioned type of centre half -in the mould of a Terry or Vidic ... or dare i say it ........Hendry?
Phil Jones buy yourself some spanking white undies as carry on like that and you might get a call to show them soon!

Well my Rovers chums , if only Burnley had this young lad. I thought he was fantastic from the bits i saw on MOTD.
If only we had 4 like him in our defence. Any chance of loaning him to us for Sunday lmao.
He looks as if he will have a bright future in the game.
All the best for rest of the season but only after Sunday lol. UTC

Urggh you make me sick. Stop being nice to each other. It`s only 6 days away from the war.

Being serious though.

Well done Phil and good luck to the night. I wish I could be there to cheer them on.

Fantastic performance from Phil. Great prospect. The bad news is I've heard he's rubbish at Countdown.

I would be more happy if Givet / Nelsen is fit - A derby away may not be the best place for his away induction?
.
Lets not make him Colin Hendry before he has played two games - A awesome debut but its feet on the ground time and take the pressure off the lad.

fantastic performance by the lad yetserday, thrown in at the deep end against Drogba could have been a bit much but he handled it brilliant... hope to see lots more of him in the 1st team... the youth players are keen to earn there wage and it shows a difference between them and the fat cats who are in week in week out.... Good lad keep it up

Dixon has been saying good things about Rovers for a few weeks, which is good given that so many pundits go for all the usual cliches about clubs like Rovers. He seems to be able to think about football above and beyond the usual top4 rubbish.
.
As for the pundits, IMO they've not much originality and they do a great disservice to the game because they cannot free themselves from the top4 syndrome and see the bigger picture of the football scenario. Mind you, if I was on £1million a year to offer my opinion on the inadequacies of footballers then I'd take it!

Personally, I love it that Rovers continue to battle away in the Prem, punching above their weight. It's easy to support ManU, Lpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc etc but to support a team like Rovers takes commitment and belief.
.
As I get older, it gets harder for me to get down to the games, especially night matches in winter.
.
Yesterday was special though. I went to the game, had a few drams before, witnessed probably the most memorable debut of me BRFC life, came home, watched it again on Sky+ and have just watched again tonight.
.
Phil Jones, that was awsome yesterday.
.
Probably the best debut from a young Rover defender in my lifetime. Keith Hill, David May, Tiny Taylor.... I saw Keith Newton but cannot remember his debut, what a player he was though........ which brings us to Sunday!!!!!!!!

Breaking News from The Independent - Fantastic for Rovers! (no not Burnley's relegation odds now 1-7 on!)
.
The Premier League's sale of its overseas broadcasting rights for 2010-13 will raise around £1.4bn, more than double the previous level of £625m, The Independent can reveal.
.
With just two deals left to be concluded – in Albania and Russia – the League is assured of raising each club's average annual income from overseas rights alone from £10m now to about £23m per season from this summer.
.
Even better for teams like Rovers is from next season (sorry Clarets!) the parachute payment will not only be increased but will be extended to more years - that has to give teams like Rovers more security.
.
And it should push out turnover in the 2010 / 11 season to around £70m to £80m meaning the club could easily look at keeping prices low and more initiatives to get the D/End full and complete taking back Ewood!
.
31st.......

Great... As soon as the greedy players and their parasitic agents get wind, they'll want their cut.

These TV deals are killing football.
You think the gulf between Rovers and the top 4 is big, jesus, look down the leagues.

Total reform is needed - this is all the FA's fault for allowing the Premier League breakaway . They have created a monster!

I've read your previous comments on this subject and I agree,it could have been so different if the money had been used to help the whole of football.Reform will be difficult now that the pigs have got their feet in the trough but we live in hope.
