CHRIS Samba admits Didier Drogba is one of the most powerful strikers he has ever faced – but hopes it will be the Ivory Coast international left feeling the blues tomorrow.
Rovers’ giant African missed October’s 5-0 drubbing at Stamford Bridge after being struck down by swine flu but believes they can make Chelsea sick of the sight of them come 6pm tomorrow.
Samba is expected to be partnered by Pascal Chimbonda in central defence at Ewood Park, in the continued absence of Ryan Nelsen, as Sam Allardyce’s men bid to continue their formidable home record.
Samba said: “You always look forward to playing against the best teams in the country, so we have to enjoy the game, give our best and see if we can get a result.
“Drogba is a powerful player. He is very good in front of goal and is very dangerous so it is about giving him no space for him to play. He is definitely one of the most powerful players I have ever played against.
“It is difficult but it isn’t only about him, they have a very good team as well.
“I missed the game against Chelsea. It was a bad day for Rovers and it was a bad day for me as well because I had swine flu. I was in bed ill and didn’t see the game. Of course it made me feel worse. You are very low when you are losing and it can be a bit of a nightmare.”
And Samba admits he does not care who wins the title.
He said: “When I was younger I supported Arsenal, when Vieira and Henry were there, but today I don’t have any favourites.”
