A terrible error from Tyrone Mears has gifted Wolves the only goal of an otherwise quiet first half at Turf Moor.
The right back’s backwards header did not have enough pace to reach his ‘keeper and it left Matthew Jarvis through on goal.
With only a stranded Brian Jensen to beat the midfielder tapped the ball around Beast and was left with the easiest of finishes from all of three inches to give the Black Country side a vital lead after 26 minutes.
By this point Jensen had already made a big error of his own when he rushed out of his goal and was rounded by Kevin Doyle, but the Dane was lucky to escape with only a caution as he clattered the Irishman and conceded a free kick.
Had Jensen not already been booked he may not have been so hesitant when faced with Jarvis for the opening goal.
David Nugent came close to finding an equaliser just before the break when he turned his marker and his effort beat Marcus Hahnemann, but his shot crashed into the ground and bounced up onto the crossbar and over.
Burnley’s only other clear sight of goal came after five minutes but Hahnemann was equal to Graham Alexander’s 25-yard drive.
Stephen Jordan replaced the injured Danny Fox six minutes before half time as the home crowd grew frustrated with their side’s misgivings.

We have mears playing for them, lovely back header from him to set up javis and well with CC if he is'nt making mistakes at the back hes scoring own goals. Wolves have not had to work for thier goals at all. Having said that we have just hit the wood work for the 2nd time. Remember our home form will keep us up pmsl, as quoted by some team members. Can anybody tell me what home form we've had since halloween???????????
Pmsl.......It's 2-0 now!!! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED.
