FULL-TIME: Blackburn Rovers reserves 1 Hull City reserves 0

VINCE Grella's injury-plagued Blackburn Rovers career continued this evening after being withdrawn from this evening's reserve squad after suffering a knock in the warm-up.

The Australian midfielder was due to be in the starting line-up against Hull City's second string at Ewood Park but had to be replaced by Josh Morris just half an hour before kick off.

David Dunn, Brett Emerton, Franco Di Santo, Junior Hoilett and Yildiray Basturk did all start for a strong Rovers side though as they beat the Tigers 1-0. David Dunn's 46th minute strike from 20 yards was enough to secure the win, with Jason Lowe hitting the bar soon after.

Dunn was the star of the show, as he pushes for a start for Saturday's trip to Tottenham, while Hoilett also looked sharp in attack.

Amine Linganzi also impressed in a centre-back role, while Emerton got a valuable 90 minutes under his belt.

ROVERS: Jake Kean, Jason Lowe, Jackson Ramm, Grant Hanley, Amine Linganzi, Josh Morris, Brett Emerton, David Dunn, Franco Di Santo, Yildiray Basturk, Junior Hoilett.

SUBS: Maceo Rigters, Josh Swann, Nick Blackman, Michael Potts, Jason Banton.

HULL CITY: Matt Duke, John Leonard, Bernard Mendy, Seyi Olofinjana, Ibrahima Sonko, Liam Cooper, Kamel Ghilas, Dean Marney, Jozy Altidore, Caleb Folan, Geovanni.

SUBS: Aiden Davison, Nicky Featherstone, Ryan Rendall, Danny Wilkinson, Dean Deagle

Vince, you're a joke or a con artist!
.
Thanks Incy, we were well right to get rid of you!

Seriously, can Rovers buy out his contract? He's a plonker.
.
Grella, Dunn, Reid!!! That's an awful lot of money paid out weekly for NO return.

sam will sort it out. we've wasted too much money in the last few years on injured players - it's a joke! but these midfielders are why we can't play 'sexy' football - they are never there to play! we always end up with players playing out of position - thank god big sam brought n'zonzi in! we need to get rid of the dead wood in the summer and bring in 2 good midfielders.

ship out deadwood out of ewood - agree.
.
problem is lamp it that the likes of grella is on 4 year contract, and not two years into it.
.
who we gonna ship him out to? who is gonna take on a crock, that is on good folding, looks ok for 20 mins then either gets injured or booked, or sent off.
.
christ he even got injured tonight warming up!

I think the most humane thing to do would be to have Grella put down.

Not really a surprise to hear he's injured again.

It is frustrating to see us handing out so much cash to these seemingly never-fit players. I know that the club or Allardyce's hands are tied somewhat, but then when he has a chance to do something about it what does he do? Goes and gives Dunn a new contract! Why? Why not wait til the end of the season and see how many games he plays between now and then?

I know some will probably say that he is on "pay-as-you-play" but even if he is you can't tell me that the club won't have these wages factored in to the overall budget and it will be preventing us from getting someone else in.

Reid looks like he is seeing the end of the line at Rovers by talking up the possibility of staying on at West Brom.

Ince shouldn't receive all the stick for signing Grella though. He was already lined up to be brought in by Hughes until he left and Ince went along with it.

Lol cracking post! Seriously though....i think reidy will be recalled as a result of this. Or it could be a blessing in disguise as surely now Basturk will at least make the bench next game?!

Its a good job Elton Welsby's not still around as Grella just like Ally Dawson would be in the team every week on Friday night Kick Off (showing my age again) only to be absent come Sat aft!
.
28th - Dingle Down Day (looks like Wigan have got going so it could be 2 from 3 now)

It was good to see the reserves at Ewood for once.

But If last night is anything to go by, I would not pin my hopes on Basturk. He is about 5 foot 3" and look like he gets out of breath is he leaves the centre circle.

Grella, was laughing and Joking with Bobby Mimms in the dug out, he could not give a sh1t so long as he gets his wad of cash. Get Rid as soon as we can.

Di Santo looks like he is back at Chelsea already.
Emerton was doing everything he could to avoid a tackle and another knock

On the positive side Dunny and Junior played OK and Jackson Ramm looks one for the future
