Rovers defender Givet is doubt for Cottage clash

GAEL Givet is expected to miss tomorrow's Premier League trip to Fulham after limping out of Sunday's victory at Bolton Wanderers.

The French left back picked up a dead leg early in the game at the Reebok Stadium and limped through much of the first half before being substituted before the interval.

The man who replaced him, Lars Jacobsen, could now be in contention to start at right back at Fulham with Pascal Chimbonda switching to left back - as he did at the Reebok.

Givet, however, is expected to have recovered in time for Saturday's home game against Stoke City should he miss out tomorrow.

Says quite a bit about the defensive side of the squad now when it is not a major issue when one of our key players is sidelined for a match or two, as in Givet's case. We have several options now especially at full back! We could play Chimbonda or Olsson at LB and either Jacobsson, Chimbonda or Salgado (the man from Madrid) at RB!

Nice one French rover.....comment allez-vous? I'll give a little cheer for you on Sat against Stoke. Nice to see you talk tactics so well. I remember the days when the only tactics we employed was finding the nearest boozer!

Tres bien merci, Spyderleg. Et Vous? That will be two cheers this week then - as my son who lives in London will be going to Fulham tomorrow!
BTW nothing wrong with finding the nearest boozer, quite a skill that, especially those times when we were being hunted down in such unlikely places as Hereford, Bristol, Southend and Norwich by packs of deranged local skinheads trying to find out where we parked the mini-bus so they could smash it (and us) up!! Did you get the mail from the LET with my email address?

don't you remember...Mr Birkin at Darwen Vale went online back in 1976! Bill Foulkes never did get the hang of the concept of a mouse mat though!
As you'll be aware, my point was more aimed at your constant criticisms of Rovers - the way you go on about that Hereford result, I'd have thought you could be a bit more appreciative of how well we are doing these days, I certainly am!

Yes. I’m well aware that you don’t care for my opinions concerning Rovers, bringing it to my attention constantly. -how “appreciative” should I be? What about buying two season tickets for the JW or travelling 250miles round trip to games! Will that do yah!x

Yes Hereford away, and Kidderminster, plus the snowy freezing trip up to Willington in the NE in the FA Cup (anyone remember going there?) Altrincham , Aldershot, Bournemouth, Southport, Leyton Orient.... oh the exotic locations we spent all weekend travelling to and from... makes my gooseberries stand on end Marghen!

Hereford 6-3. I was on duty in N Ireland, on patrol, and when I got back to the camp I had Hammers, Soton and Pompey fans giving me stick for that one. Even got some grief from a Halifax Town supporter. The cheek of it.

Dear Rovers Fans (the uneducated few)

I attended the Bolton Game on Sunday and loved the situation and the result. However i was upset and concerned about the responce by our fans to Gordon Taylor when he took to the pitch to promote community activities. He played for both clubs and is or was a resident of or beloved town, All i can say is when we where in the **** who bailed us out? Young fans wont understand but pre JW the PFA paid our clubs wages keeping us in existance so......... Take it back and appologise or our beloved club will look like non educated fools!! This is not a pop at anybody but lets please respect where we came from x

look below...............
...... love my club xx

The PFA's chief executive, Gordon Taylor OBE was born in Ashton-under-Lyne in 1944. The Winger played over 250 games for the Bolton Wanderers in the 1960s. In 1970, he was transferred to Birmingham City, where he played from 1970-76.

In 1976 he joined the Blackburn Rovers, and spent the '77 season playing in the North American Soccer League for the Vancouver Whitecaps. He returned to Blackburn for a stint and then played for Bury from 1978-1980, and retired from the game that same year.

Gordon Taylor became the Chief Executive of the Professional Footballers' Association in 1981, is a fully qualified FA Coach, has a degree in economics from London University and is a member of FIFA's football committee, where he was President from 1992-2005. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours.

No disrespect to Gordon Taylor and his connections to Rovers. He was great going down the wing.
.
I could not go to Bolton for reasons that are personal....but despite what he may (or may not have done for us) Taylor is symptomatic with everything that is wrong with Administrators in the Game and Sport, in general.
.
He is the highest paid Trade Unionist in the Country BAR NONE!. He sanctions the purchase of Lowry paintings to adorn the corridors of his office (or walls) at PFA.
.
He singularly refuses to condemn the excerable acts of his members in any way, even when thay are exposed as licentious, money grabbing evil b*astards dripping in the excrement of excess and greed.
.
If the only qualification for his £1m salary is that he has a degree and can string two sentences together....then we are in a sad and apocalyptical world.
.
I suspect the reason why he is hated (like Triesman, Scuadamore, and all the other FA. Football League, UEFA, FIFA administrators) is because of the classic Animal Farm "Four legs good, two legs better" syndrome.
.
I do not doubt that he entered the PFA with good intentions but he has been exposed as no different to the rest.
.
As they say in Politics "Power, corrupts.....and Absolute Power, corrupts - absolutely".
.
And for your information - I am not uneducated nor, am I ill-informed. Although your accusation of the boo-boys is in itself looks like ill-placed intellectual snobbery.
.
Always enjoy seeing Gordon driving up to Ewood in his Limo and he seems to enjoy the good-life every time I go to the Freemasons in Wiswell .
.
Genuinely no offence DG666 as you post good comments - you are entitled to your opinion, but do not seek to condemn others thoughts, or opinions.

Excellent post HH-The PFA is now a totally different entity from the one that funded players wages years back. It's irrelevant that GT played for the Rovers -GT looks after number one - then- secondly the multi-millionaire players that fund the PFA -thirdly the millionaire players that fund the PFA- fourthly the vast majority of professional players that earn more in a year than most earn in a life time………My heart bleeds for GT he must have sobbed all the way to his next Michelin starred restaurant. -Working class boy turned good!

Anybody who has watched football as long as I or the previous posters, knows only to well that the fans game and the real game are miles apart and getting further every year. All the money from TV that should have gone to improve the game has gone directly into the pockets of players and the only reason the administrators have let this happen is so they can indirectly skim off a share for themseves. We as fans have no alternative but to put up with the situation and try to glean pleasure from our team.Lets face it in any other walk of life we would have walked away long since, but we are adicted and football is not the real world.
