ACCRINGTON Stanley claimed a point at Bradford City this afternoon thanks to an equaliser from Michael Symes and a late penalty miss from home striker Gareth Evans.
Symes came back to haunt his old club by cancelling out Phil Edwards' first-half own goal to make it 1-1 in the 56th minute when he collected Bobby Grant's pass and curled the ball into the far corner.
A frantic second half then ended with Bradford being awarded a controversial 89th-minute penalty when Grant was adjudged to have handled from a corner. Evans fired his spot kick wide of the right-hand post, however.
Bradford had gone ahead in the 21st minute as Simon Ramsden put Michael Flynn in space on the right and Stanley keeper Ian Dunbavin unwisely vacated his goal in an attempt to challenge.
Flynn crossed and James Hanson somehow missed the ball with an open goal at his mercy, only for it to hit Edwards and go in.
