Blackburn Rovers make van Nistelrooy enquiry

BLACKBURN Rovers have now made an enquiry about Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce last week responded to questions about van Nistelrooy’s availability by suggesting that he would be interested in the Real Madrid striker, providing the 33-year-old was willing to take a wage cut.

Reports have indicated that the Dutch international, who missed the second half of last season with a serious knee injury, is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and the likes of Tottenham and Fulham have also been linked.

Allardyce was keen to stress when he spoke on the subject last week that he had not enquired about van Nistelrooy, but the Lancashire Telegraph understands that a tentative enquiry has since been made through an intermediary.

It remains to be seen, though, whether a deal would be viable for the ex-Manchester United forward.

Not thrilled about the Vieri idea - according to the stats he has been to more clubs than Frank Sinatra - he doesn't stay too long either.

RVN - by me that one dad !

Just like to point out in that he scored playing for real madrid 24 goals in 24 games.

If Sam thinks he's good enough then he's good enough for me.
He's not a replacement for RSC, he would be an asset to the squad.

Its not good that national papers are more right that LET. While of papers have being informing uis that Vieri has joined our training camp. LET was informing us its rubbish. We need to get somebody if better inside knowlegde whats happening. Otherwise going lose faith in any reports of transfer targets. As for Vieri joining us in his hayday he was a great player now, but not now and he will justy be here for the wage. Ruud be a gd signing but depends how desperate he is to play and if willing to take the wage cut fantastic. But at moment think that this transfer is very unrealistic.

Have you had a few sherrie's this morning?

Worryingly, Samba has started to make the familiar noises of a player wanting away. Talksport reported this morning that he has refused to commit himself to Rovers and that anyone who wants him, knows where he is. So that's another striker on his way.

As for Vieri, that has to be worse than bringing Fowler in last year. The guy is crocked and surely cannot be worth a gamble.

I think sam will only let Samba go in a big money move, as he is a vital player.

Id be sad to see him leave, but i dont think there is much in it, just speculation

Andriy Shevchenko &Nistelrooy if anyone can get the best out of anyone Big Sam can

I've got a good idea, lets let Sam have a look at Vieri in the training camp, and he can then make a decision, that seems the most sensible thing.
Ref Samba - I know, lets wait to see what happens, it really does depend on the size of the bid, doesn't it!
I realise that this is a forum for opinion, but the strong views above are really based on nothing, arent they? Who knows whether vieri has got the hunger and the legs, unless you meet him, and watch him play?? who knows if anything will happen with Samba, or whether Sam wants to keep him?
Security "when-such" - uncanny, arent they!

Shevchenko you most be having a joke with that msg. Nobody can get the best out of him. Sometimes players have to call time on their career he is one. You cant keep signing people on their past history, he proved at Chelsea and even when he went back to milan which to him is a second home he has failed to score.

GET DI SANTO SIGNED!

Ancelotties arrived at chelsea and so has Sturridge so di santo should be avilable.

I dont think either RVN or Vieri will be the kind of striker we need, RVN has serious knee problems like that tart whos just gone to City, and Vieri only managed seven games last season. Di Santo is the way to go, someone younger than Benni and Roberts and not someone who is 33+ with massive wage demands and bad knee's from being kicked around by defenders for the last 20 years.

The way to look at these potential signings is like this: Will they improve on what we have/had?

van Nistelrooy - he will definitely improve on what we had, providing he takes a wage cut.

Vieri - has the reputation, but that was some time ago and he may be 'past it'. But we're only taking him on trial and Allardyce is known for rejuvenating players. If it works, great. If not then he'll be moved on. Sensible managing if you ask me.

As for di Santo - there must be something about him for him still to be at Chelsea, but let's remember that he is not proven in the Premier League and we can't expect to rely on him to provide the majority our goals next season.

So I would go for van Nistelrooy first, then di Santo and finally Vieri if needed. I don't think we need or will go for all three, unless we sell one of our other forwards.

I wouldn't mind a punt at Nugent from Portsmouth if the price was right,we'd still need another stiker but Sam rescued Kevin Davis maybe he could pull it off again. Also i don't see why Di Santo would'nt come off,Shearer,Walcott,
Owen, wern't exactly old when they started in the prem. There's an old saying "If your good enough your old enough" only one way to find out.
