Window chopping for Blackburn Rovers chief

BLACKBURN Rovers may consider letting more players leave to raise funds - but only after they have a new striker on board.

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce does not expect any more transfers, either in or out of Ewood, until he has secured the goalscorer that he needs to replace the departed Roque Santa Cruz.

Rovers have already brought in four players this summer as well as allowing Matt Derbyshire to leave, but have previously denied reports linking the likes of Stephen Warnock, Benni McCarthy, Chris Samba and Keith Andrews with moves away from the club.

Allardyce is now concentrating his entire budget on bolstering his strike force and will assess how much money he has left once he has done that.

But Big Sam has suggested that he may consider selling at that point to raise money for further additions to the squad - with midfield thought to be one area he may try to strengthen.

"We don't need to sell anybody else now,” said Allardyce, who is taking his squad to Austria for a training camp today.

“We've put the financial side right and I've got some funds to spend.

"I won't be able to sign as much as I can get, though. It will stop somewhere along the line.

"But for me I will never stop asking for football players, even though the club or John (Williams) might say that's it.

"If a better player comes along, I will try to persuade the club to get him in.

"Sometimes you can do your business and all of a sudden something appears that you never expected to appear.

"Then I've got to try to convince the club that it's the right thing to do, even if it means going above what they expected or wanted to do, because this player would be so good for Blackburn.

"If that means trading again, I would have to look at that option.”

Allardyce is definitely in the market for one striker but may decide to sign two - with young Chelsea forward Franco di Santo the favourite to be the second signing on a season-long loan deal.

Gotta be Zigic and Gudjohnsen for me. Offload Gallacher and Andrews to get the funds for Eidur if required (depending on how much Zigic is: 11M?), and also get in Edu on a free to bolster the midfield, he's just been released by Valencia

If the LET had some guts they might care to mention the fact our owners aren't exactly bankrupt.

Still wouldn't want to risk upsetting the one thing that sells this newspaper. Can't imagine Peter White would have sat back and said nothing though.

Takeover is essential.

With Givet signed, Warnock looks like he's going to be playing in the centre of the park. Think we should get shot of Emerton and Andrews. Bring in another right back and 2 strikers.

Vinjay, what is your problem?
True, the Walker family do not want to invest any more big money into the club, but that is purely a financial decision. Unfortunately, they do not share Uncle Jack's vision or passion for the club and we have to accept & respect that decision. However, they care for the legacy he has left, that's why they are not selling the club to the first investor who has cash on the hip. They want the new owner to be right for the club (as well as get the asking price). I know for certain that they have rejected 2 offers which, while the price was met, they were unhappy with what they wanted to do with the club.
We are very lucky to have the Walkers at the helm. I wish the would put up some more money but they wont. But, the club is self suficient and not in the clutches of a Mike Ashley, thank the lord.
Vinjay, stop posting negative thoughts, you are becoming very boring.

I expect Jack in the present situation would try to sell the club. He wanted only the very best for this club and would realise he couldn't provide that anymore.

He wouldn't be holding back funds though like the current owners are doing.

Answer the question. If Jack sold the club in 2000 and the new owners behaved in the same way as the present ones (i.e contributing zero to transfers, speaking to the fans about twice in 9 years) would they be quite so popular? I doubt it somehow.

Think your right Stone Cold - I have read only negatives from Vinjay on here and that is not a fan.

Vinjay - Since we lost Uncle Jack the Walker Family have Invested about £30m in rovers including £3m this season and also converted about £25m of loans to equity. So they have given £55m which sound a hell of a lot to me.

Its not their fault it does not buy as much as it did in the 90's in this football Greed crazy world. We have got it right this coming season by remembering we are a community town club who are enjoying great days for our size and we are going for bigger gates and a great atmosphere with the pricing policy. Have you got your ticket yet?

Owners who would put us into debt are not wanted. Owners who would gift us £150m to £200m like the Walkers have do not grow on trees. I hate anything but total respect for them.

But I will (Jeppo!) make comments about the decisions of paid employees on the board!

The Jack Walker era was a different time in football. He wouldn't be able to compete with the Abramovichs of this world.

Vinjay: you talk about Jack or the potential new owners contributing zero to transfers - isn't that pretty much what Jack did after we won the title? Harford wanted to sign Zidane and was told by Jack that we didn't need him. Instead we got Matty Holmes and Lars Bohinen and it was all downhill from there.

Whilst Jack took us on a great ride throughout the 90s, one which all Rovers fans will be grateful to him forever, it was the failure to build on the success of '94/'95 which started our downfall.

Jack was also a fan - he wasn't in it to make a profit. None of these mega-rich owners are fans of the clubs they buy - Abramovich, Glazers, Lerner, etc. Do you really think that if these clubs continue to fail to win things that these guys are going to stick around?

Also, if spending endless pots of money determined a club's sucess, then wouldn't the likes of Spurs, Newcastle and Boro have far more titles than they have?! Not to mention how much Rovers spent when we were relgated!

I was frustrated about our inability to compete financially with others, but that's the way it is. And I'd rather have it that way and finish around mid-table every year, than end up like Leeds and Southampton trying to chase 'the dream'.

vinjay, shut up moaning! the clubs runs fantastically well under our current regime with a very manageable level of debt. yes this means you are unlikely to see rovers ever do much more than qualify for the europa cup or have a good run in one of the cup compititons, but for a club of our size that is fantastic anyway. if this isn`t enough for you as a football fan then maybe it`s time to review your `support` of BRFC.

I am White British like most at Ewood so "my sort" as Half A Chance described it is actually in the majority. I don't know why he assumes I'm not English and so what if I wasn't. Anyone who wants to support BRFC regardless of race is welcome at Ewood.

I campaign for takeovers Morst because I want to see decent owners give their all for this football club. No different to you criticising Williams until the prices changed.

I have made positive statements about the club in the past. How many times have I referred to this as a big club (which I get abuse for saying) or a great club? Several times on here and other forums. Is that not positive language?

I used to be positive about every single aspect of this club from 97-2000. I defended every single thing the club did. Up to 2003 I did the same to a lesser extent. However that's not the way forward.

Vinjay welcome to the wonderful topsy turvy world of football.....

As someone once said...

'when you think your at the top your really at the bottom'

All though your view is noted, I would suggest as regards BRFC, that to be where we are is nothing short of miracilous all things considered.

Smacks of 'Lack of ambition' ?

I would say no. BRFC compete really well & as someone pointed out the Jack era will live in the memory for an awful long time & considering I have been a supporter since 1975 I can honestly say this is a golden era that many in the coming decades may not experience.

We all want to see investment in BRFC & I truly believe the Walker family will not sell this club down the river thus possibly sinking us without trace?

Vinjay consider this - How many trophy's can be won throughout all of Euro?

For me football is about competing & if our club wins a trophy along the way then fantastic, but in the main I watch my beloved Rovers for the thrill of the chase & am realistic enough to know what the situation is in football today.

If & when new owners come along with a promise of being able to take the club onto the level you expect the great, but until then I would say The Walker Family is doing a good steady job.

Not going to like this Dunc…Totally agree with your weighing up.

Would like to add…Lets be honest Jack bought the title -without his money Rovers would never have reached the heights which we did in the 90’s-even though, we as fans know Jack had the best intentions in giving back to the people of Blackburn because he had made his wealth and fortune form the towns workforce-but unknowingly to him he began the ball rolling for all these oil Billionaires who now invest in football-the difference between these new investors and Jack is like day and night- these new investor use clubs as play things, for some reason they get off on it-Power and wealth aren’t enough for these billionaires - they will never have tears in their eyes after “their team” win a trophy..that only happens when your commitment means everything and its not tax deductible - Jack was a one off, which we’ll never see in football again.

In fairness to Vinjay, he has one thing right in his mention of Peter White. Chris "Claret" Flanagan and Andy Cryer are not fit to lace his boots.

Hey up Hasslem,Nothing to do with topic,But a while back we were on about the Home of football shop in Ambleside,I was in there yesterday,They are not going to close it,But he was saying there is just too much stuff,That he cannot show it all there,(Plus it sounds like other people are going to have a imput into it ), So there it is going to be found a home in preston,To show it all,But he will be keeping the place in Ambleside too, always some great photo's of the beautiful game.

Did you see the Aeroplane stunt photo B+B? I really think we should try and get a reprint for this season and perhaps the T-shirts too? Perhaps the 4000 hole blues could organise it?

Bring back the Dambusters theme for Oct 17th also! What other songs have we got for that day? -

Inbred song,
Forever and Ever,
Singing the Blues,
What do you think of Burnley, (Wonder if Vinjay knows that one?)
Fly over Burnley,

any more?

Yes Morst,You can buy the aeroplane flypast on a post card.
Vinjay is off the mark with wanting the club sold,Who ever took the club on would be bringing us more debt than the club have now.
At least we know where we stand with the Walker family.
Rovers is our club,It would be a kick in the b011ocks to me if someone bought it a got us debt,And some bank had there hands on the deeds to Ewood park.
All these so called investors in other clubs are only looking at how much money they can make,How many other clubs,Fans would like to be in Blackburns position?
When some of these so called investors get fed up,Or start not making the books balance,Then what?Walk away and leave crap behind.
Vinjay you want have another look at your thoughts, Our club in a good position compaired to some.Jack left us a good legacy,And i for one are very greatfull for that...

Vinjay - there are people who use this forum who have supported Rovers through the highest and lowest points of our history. The fact that you, who are in reality a jonny come lately, with limited understanding, are the only one obsessing about a takeover should tell you something. Your Man Utd obsession, and Burnley stance annoys me massively, and really shows you up. There are a few people on this forum, you included, who aren't really worthy of debating Rovers with true blues. Everyone knows who they are. People like Marghen and Hasslem, I don't always agree with. It even gets heated at times, but I respect their opinions. True Blues support Rovers through thick and thin, wether we are challenging for the title and breaking transfer records, or battling financial difficulties and Languishing in the 3rd division!
Not often are you wrong my friend-just sometimes you step over the mark, imo!

Concerning a ST, yeah all in hand thanks -my Niece is going to sort it for me when she gets back from Oz -she works at Ewood.-Just hope I can make full use of it ie I want to make the long journey because we are winning/playing good stuff - oh, and we don’t get snowed in, like we did early this year lol.

I sat in front of Reid and McEverly in Salzburg for the Uefa Cup game and Reid was a good lad.

Joked with him about the Wigan spectacular, and when I saw him pulling his leg bag to shoot, that me and my pal were sh**ting ourselves as we were in the exact positon on row 15 where his toe-bungers usually ended up and we were rescued by the back of the neck

I love that place. Had some pals up from Sarf London up in the Lakes last week on a break from scrap metal dealing and drive-by shootings. Told 'em to go to Homes of Football...they loved it.

Great news if some of it moves to Preston, which is good but a bit undewhelming. There is more they could do with the space therr. Putting some cracking photos would brighten it up a bit.

If you go on t'web you can see the whole of his stuff, and you can see what he means that he has too much stuff.

Anybody else who comes on here and doesn't know home of football....if you are in Ambleside - take a butchers.

Does it upset you that Jack Walker and Peter White both hated Man United then?

I hate the club I've always hated. Not apologising for that.

Peter White-"Rovers should never be forgiven for allowing that to happen. They know they would never be forgiven if they let Shearer go to the club the Rovers fans love to hate. Fans might just live with a move to Barcelona or Milan. But not to "that lot."

Vinjay and any other man u haters please tell me why? I can understand Blackburn and Burnley rivalry or Blackburn and Preston but why man u? it makes no sense! They are one of the biggest clubs if not the biggest club in the world, surely you dont hate them because of this or the success that they have had over the years, good luck to them I say, yes I wish it was BRFC in that position but in reality it is not and probably never will be but that does not and should not make me hate man u.

Vinjay says...

I hated Man United when I started supporting this club as did most BRFC fans. If you check that Peter White quote so did the vast majority of BRFC supporters. They deny it now but it's the truth.

The only club I hated in 1997 was Man United and they are the only club I really despise in 2009.

Maybe if you have a walk around Blackburn Town Centre and see all the Man United shirts I've seen this past week you might understand my feelings.

People underestimate the threat. Man United are probably the second highest supported club in Blackburn and it's time people recognised this threat.

They are the threat to support. Nobody else.

The "Rovers FC" sign that was over the blackburn end turnstiles is now incorporated in the wall behind Uncle Jacks statue. The sign saying "Blackburn End Home Supporters only". I can't remember if it was painted on the wall or if it was a wooden sign (don't think that would exist anymore).

I wanna be a Rovers Ranger,
I wanna live a life of danger.
I wanna beat Burnley every week,
I wanna chase 'em down the streets.
Here's to the girl who I like best,
Every night I suck her breasts.
S**g her standing,

If she had wings,

Not forgotten,

Two points:

1. Why bother walking round Blackburn Town Centre? There is nothing there worth seeing.

2. So called Man Utd supporters arent real football supporters, as we all know. Glory hunters dont count. Its like saying you support England, but dont have a local league team you really support. Sad and pathetic individuals who just dont understand the game. They aren't worth hating. Carrot supporters, for all their obvious defects, are at least proper supporters, even if they are totally deluded.
