Blackburn Rovers braced for new Roque Santa Cruz bid

Blackburn Rovers are today bracing themselves for a latest bid for Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City - after rejecting one in the region of £15million late last week.

The club though would be determined to line up a replacement for Santa Cruz before even considering parting with their prized asset - with obvious candidates very thin on the ground.

Rovers are still insistent there is no pressure to sell Santa Cruz, for whatever price, as they realise adequate striking options are vital in their bid to preserve their Premier League safety.

Rovers chairman John Williams declined to discuss any potential transfer targets but did admit this January was turning out to be a particularly slow window.

He said: “It is far easier to sell than it is to buy and that is why you are seeing little activity anywhere this January.

“In January prices are inflated and there is no doubt it is a difficult period for any club.”

I wouldnt mind Cisse. Currently on loan at Sunderland. Would link up well with Benni and Roberts.

Sturridge has already stated he does not want to leave man city.

Cisse is a good player if he can get the service.

i think most people will agree our main target should be a right winger.

City want Roque,Roque wants city,Rovers want the best deal we can get.So instead of bids being made and rejected every 2-3 days,lets invite City for a butty and a pint and thrash out the deal,
then lets all move on and start talking about Rovers.On another subject Fulham should be made to pay
the travel costs of Rovers fans who bought tickets.

I agree if Rocky doesn't want to stay sell him but do it in the summer when he has helped us stay up. And if Hughes goes in the meantime or doesn't pursue his interest in the summer then we've still got a decent striker. The only problem is whether Rocky plays like he did last season or plays like he has been doing this season.

PS What ever happened to the talk about that guy Janko as a possible replacement for RSC?

Agreed bed and breakfast man !
We supported our clubs for over 100 years and kept them afloat and then when the mega billion TV deals should have kept prices cheap instead greed ridden clubs have just taken the proverbial out of fans to put yet another note on the end of players wages.
I come on here for old times sake but am amazed footy fans have not revolted and gone on national strike - Footy fans are the most thickest people on the planet except for RAyzer to put up with it!

I think the rigt winger has to be Diouf, if RSC does have this 18m buy out clause, citeh will pay it. He'll also work as a forward so would be a good buy.

Dislike El Hadji Diouf, but so did i Savage when he signed for us.
