ACCRINGTON Stanley lost their fifth successive away game as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Barnet.
Centre back Ismail Yakubu beat Stanley goalkeeper Kenny Arthur in the air to head in a 74th-minute winner from Nicky Nicolau’s corner.
It was a cruel blow for Arthur, who had turned John O’Flynn’s penalty around the post just seconds earlier. Substitute Robbie Williams was sent off for the professional foul that led to the penalty.
Stanley had fallen behind just 27 seconds into the Underhill clash when Albert Adomah beat Phil Edwards on the right flank and fired the ball across the face of the goal for O’Flynn to head home.
But the Reds equalised when Northern Ireland international defender Colin Murdock rose unchallenged to meet John Miles’ corner at the near post in the 45th minute.
Jimmy Ryan fired over from a good position early in the second half but Barnet also had opportunities to add to their tally, with Arthur making one particularly impressive save from Adomah.
Stanley are now without a win in seven games in all competitions.
