Chilean star Carlos Villanueva arrives in England early next week as he looks sets to become Paul Ince’s first major summer signing as Blackburn Rovers manager.

Rovers have agreed a deal in principle for the 22-year-old, which would involve him joining initially on a season-long loan, but with a view to a permanent transfer.

The club need to secure a work permit for Villanueva, who plays for Chilean side Audax Italiano, but a Home Office hearing may not be necessary as Rovers are working on a process whereby the player will automatically qualify for a work permit.

Chairman John Williams said: “Carlos will arrive in England at the same time as the squad returns from Portugal.”

I am quite excited about one or two aspects of Inces first days, he has not rushed in like a bull at a gate, his targets appear to be footballers with flair and ability and if Winterburn can tighten the back four, keep hold of Santa and replace Bentley with a bit of pace, we could be in for a decent season.
You tube can be deceptive though and can depend on the quality of the opposition but the guy looks quality on there. We have opinions, Ince will have his too but remember, Ince has played at the highest level, he must have some idea of what he is doing, lets hope he does!!

Hooray - some positive comments.
Good luck to Brad after 8 years sterling service - he certainly won't be booed on his return. Sorry to see him go but you cannot deny a move after those 8 years. Would also wish Bentley good luck but don't think he's going to get his dream move - I think the club's position is clear - top 4 come in for him and he can go, otherwise 17m. Gotta laugh at Martin O'Neill - every time Barry's price tag rises a million, so does Bentley's.
Anyway, what's happened to the Ince out brigade today? Club in shambles, mass exodus, laughing stock....?

about time we got abit of quality and flair in down at ewood. hes looking quite shrewd is old incey except the fowler situation which is still abit baffling to me!

get rid of bentley, do EVERYTHING to keep hold of santa and make a couple more signings and that DOESNT include keith fecking andrews and we'll be laughing all the way into europe! woop woop!!
