Lower Darwen drivers David and John Robertson had mixed fortunes at Liverpool Motor Club's spring sprint at Aintree.
David pulled out all the stops in his Porsche 911GT3 as he attempted to take a class win.
He was just three-tenths of a second shy of the existing class record on his third attempt, but had to settle for second when Rob Wakelin set a new record in his Subaru Impreza.
ANWCC Sprint Championship contender Robertson was still happy with his impressive score and still has the overall class trophy in his sights.
Meanwhile John, who was running his 1.3-litre Rover Mini, was just off the pace of the class leaders before being forced to retire on his third run.
