SUNDAY'S showdown between Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City at St Andrew's will be screened live on Sky TV.
The game has suddenly assumed huge significance, with both sides desperate to secure a win that could be crucial to their respective fights at opposite ends of the Premier League table.
Birmingham need at least a point to stand any chance of avoiding an instant return to the Championship, whilst a win for Rovers could see them pip Aston Villa in the race for sixth position and a place in the Intertoto Cup.
Birmingham keeper Maik Taylor said: "It's going down to the wire now and we're still in with a fighting chance.
"We have to be prepared to throw everything into the 90 minutes, hope we can get the three points, and then pray for the other results.
"One consolation is that we have a home game to finish on.
"If we continue the home form, then that will give us a chance.
"It's a must-win game, it's not going to be easy, Blackburn are a very difficult team to play against.
"But we have to be up for it and it's boiling down to 90 minutes of football."

"I can't understand why anybody would want to leave Birmingham for a small club like Blackburn" said a certain Mr Gold speaking about Robbie Savage's imminent transfer in January 2005.

Premiership status doesnt mean you are a big club. We have struggled near the bottom of the league all season and still managed 26000 averages which is 2000 higher than yourselves. If we were in your position and in the new 60,000 capacity City of Birmingham stadium we would average 40-50,000. Why was the house that Jack built so small, because he knew that his little club had reached its potential!.

My apologies, we agree then, Blackburn are a little club, Birmingham are a big club - so your point was??

Spurs target England star Bentley Monday, March 31, 2008 "Tottenham have identified David Bentley as the player to lead an entire new midfield when they seek to build on their Carling Cup success next season. Blackburn are fighting to keep the England international at Ewood Park and insist he is not for sale. But Spurs will be awash with transfer funds in the summer and will not baulk at paying over the odds to get their man. Bentley is believed to fancy a return to London but joining former club Arsenal is not an option, there is no room for him in Chelsea's impressive engine-room and West Ham cannot offer the carrot of European football." What do we reckon lads?

Your town's population is 250,000 thats 1/6 of ours, but we have 3 teams. You live in the North so you have little money, so you all watch football. You are a captive audience of a small club. That gives you an unfair advantage. So you are still a small club and we are a big club, regardless of what division we are in.

Folks, I must go now, got a sophisticated night out at a 3 star restaurant, (probably pay for 30 portions of northern fish and chips, blooming expensive!),but I have loved the patter. Its a long way to Birmingham (at least Savage said so), so for the couple of busloads that can afford it, well see you Saturday. xxx

Hi all, I am a Rovers fan, living in birmingham. I am asian and will be going to St. andrews this weekend. Blackburn is a small town but with an established football club, fantastically run by the current hierarchy! I sincerely hope rovers cap the season off with a comfortable win at birmingham and get into Europe! BCFC is NOT a bigger club than BRFC. Rovers stadium, squad, facilities are way better than birmghams. Who is birminghams star player? Do they have one? half decent player? exactly none! I cant wait for them going down :)

I know we have the quality to beat them but i just hope that we finish the job and the hammers get something out of Villa. With only 1400 away seats available many of us are struggling to get down to the midlands but at least its on sky! C'mon Rovers lets finish the season on a high!
