Coyle wants to feel the noise from Burnley faithful

CLARETS boss Owen Coyle is calling on the Turf Moor faithful to pump up the noise for the final home game of the season.

With any chance of a play-off place now gone, the Clarets are just playing for pride.

But Coyle and his charges have called for a big end to the campaign and they got off to the best possible start with a 1-0 win at St Mary's over relegation-threatened Southampton.

And now the Clarets boss want the Turf Moor crowd to roar his team to victory in their final home game of the season against FA Cup finalists Cardiff.

He said: "The atmosphere has been terrific but, like anything else, you can always improve that.

"The players and ourselves have an obligation to make sure what we are delivering on the pitch is conducive to a good atmosphere.

"It's two-fold. I want the players to do well on the pitch to get the supporters going. Equally, I would love the supporters to come in and get right behind the players straight away.

"It's a two-way street so I think we can help each other to that end, and if we deliver the performance, we will get the three points and then everybody goes away happy.

"The first home game is a sense of anticipation with the season starting off and the last home game is, I would think, recognising that the lads have worked really hard all season.

"But it's important that we don't leave it flat, that we go and give a vibrant performance and go and get three points that would push us up to 64.

"We are looking to set ourselves targets all the time so whatever we get we are looking to surpass that. We are looking for two big performances in the last two games.

"Cardiff have got good players and are a good side. I think they are one of the better sides in the Championship, so it will be a tough game, as they all are.

"I just want to make sure we are at our best and, if we do, that then that will be good enough for me."
