Young Gunner Randall joins Clarets

BURNLEY manager Owen Coyle believes their FA Cup performance against Arsenal was pivotal in securing Gunners midfielder Mark Randall on loan until the end of the season.

Coyle has backed the talented 18-year-old to have a bright future at the Emirates, but is delighted to have a hand in his progression and provide the youngster with more first team football, following the two appearances he has made for Arsenal this term.

Randall is no stranger to Burnley, having been on the bench for the third round clash at Turf Moor on January, then later featuring in Arsenal youth team's 5-1 win over the Clarets in the FA Youth Cup last month.

"I think it's a great signing. We've monitored him for a while and we're excited about him as a player," said Coyle, who made the Milton Keynes-born starlet his third loan signing of the January transfer window, with striker Andrew Cole this week following Stanislav Varga from Sunderland on a deal until May.

"I watched him in the quarter final of the Carling Cup at Blackburn and he was a substitute against us, so he's been in and around the Arsenal first team.

"I think the cup tie helped us as well because Arsene Wenger realised we get the ball down and play and that will complement the way the boy plays."

Randall became the final piece Burnley's January jigsaw after Coyle had a third and final bid for Celtic striker Derek Riordan rejected last night.

The teenager, who made his full Arsenal debut in their Carling Cup quarter final win over Blackburn Rovers in December, has been given the number 10 shirt and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's trip to West Bromwich Albion.

Although he didn't make an appearance in the FA Cup proper against the Clarets, he was instrumental in the FA Youth Cup clash that saw Arsenal win 5-1.

Great ANOTHER loan signing that will be back at their club at the end of the season. Great for the lad to get some experience for his future but what about OUR clubs future???????

Are you the same Steve that says "well done Owen" on the other blog. Bit two faced if you are.

Fu-Ming, Aren't you the brother of Mo-Aning and Whin Geing ?
Please go and support another club, you moron. You may as well change sport, too, so try the Miami Dolphons. They spend money and get nowhere.
Is it impossible for you to understand a) that football is a business, b) that a team needs a balance of youth and experience and c) that Owen Coyle is moving this club forward using less money than SC, ST or many of the previous managers since Harry Potts in the 1960's ?
Oh, and by the way, I, for one, don't believe that you have a season ticket this season, so what changes in the future ?
Mr Coyle, if you do happen to read this rag, trust me, the fans are behind you.

The two great additions are with us until the end of the season! The Arsenal lad could well be class so whats the point in panic buying and tying players to the club on three year contracts when we can change things when we gain promotion?COME ON YOU CLARETS!!!!

Fantastic signing - shame though, I heard the original enquiry was to bring in Theo Walcott on loan and we ended up with some kid nobody ever heard of! Then again, our friends down the road will have heard about him if he featured in the team that knocked them out of the cup!! Already a good lad in my book!!

Hopefully this will turn into a little gem, strengthening where we really have looked vulnerable at times this season in midfield! Hopefully this kid can keep spicer out and make him realise that nobody wants him at the turf! Go spicer, you are sh1te and not wanted! I think this could be good business for BFC, securing the rock in defence, adding some youth (raw and untested, yet no doubt hungry for success who has been around some of the hottest talent in Britain!) and a clinical striker, proven at every level! The club has done well with these loan signings, strengthened where was needed and deserve a bit of credit where it is due! If these players help us to the play offs, it will have proved excellent purchases, giving us money in the summer for Coyle to bring in who he wants at a reasonable fee, rather than inflated january prices! OC's Claret and blue army!!

Yes it is the same Steve. Owen chooses the players but the board buy them. So yeah Owen is doing a good job just not supported by the board. Have a think before you call someone.

When Brendan Flood actually delivers on one of his pledges to Burnley fans it will be time to sit up and take notice.
When he came to the club he pledged to bring in quality young players and bring down the average age of the squad - which before the lad joined from Arsenal had gone up to around 35!!
Brendan pledged that all of the money from the sale of Andy Gray would be made available to Owen Coyle to bring in players. Fans hopes unduly raised once more. The price of young quality players will not be any less in the summer - unless Derby,QPR,Wolves,Lei
cester et all run out of money.
By signing players aged 35+ on short term loans proves that this club are only thinking short term fix.
Re the signing of Andrew Cole read Chico - another Brendan Flood gimmick designed to appease disgruntled fans.
It looked as though there could be a rich harvest come the end of May. Sadly, Brendan and Barry have decided to let the crop wither and perish on the vine, rather than hire a few young and talented pickers to help bring in the crop.
