MATCH of the Day host Gary Lineker praised everyone connected with Burnley for the respect they showed during Saturday’s draw at Leicester City.

The Foxes honoured their late chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, before, and during, the game at the King Power Stadium, which was the club’s first home fixture since their owner and four others were killed in a helicopter crash last month.

There was no analysis of the game, which saw Burnley end a run of run of three heavy defeats with a point and first clean sheet since September.

Lineker, a former Leicester player, said: “I thought Sean Dyche, his players, club and the supporters in particular were full of respect and class.

“On behalf of everyone at Leicester, thank you for that.”

The Leicester players had travelled to Thailand for the funeral of Khun Vichai in the build-up to the game, and on the tributes, Alan Shearer said: “It’s been a tough time for everyone connected with Leicester.

“For the players to play last weekend and then make the round trip of 12,000 miles then to come back and play today, it was an incredibly moving tribute and completely befitting to the chairman and what he stood for.

“Football can often get things wrong but Leicester City Football Club and has honoured Vichai with total class and respect.”

Martin Keown added: “You can’t express the admiration you have for them as a club, the fans, the players, the way they have spoken and dealt with it and been so professional.”
