ACCRINGTON Stanley have signed Daniel Barlaser on loan from Newcastle United.

The 21-year-old midfielder has penned a six-month deal at the Wham Stadium and could make his debut for the Reds against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

Barlaser's arrival takes the number of Stanley loanees to four, with only five permitted in a matchday squad.

And John Coleman could still seek to strengthen his squad today with the Stanley chief keen on adding to his striking options.

But for Barlasr, who has represented Turkey at youth level, it is a chance to make an impression.

“I’m delighted to be here,” said Barlaser. “Looking at the fixtures and the results the club has had recently they’ve started really well.

“Stanley had a tremendous season last season, and they played very good football which suits me.

“I like to play in the middle, although I can play in a three and I’ve played a couple of times behind the frontman, but I’m more favoured for a central role.”

Barlaser spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra last season, coming off the bench at the Wham Stadium in the Reds 1-0 win when the sides met in League Two.

“I could have come here last year and I didn’t, but I probably should have because of the way things panned out,” he added.

“The style of play at Crewe didn’t really suit me, and I didn’t get as much game time as I wanted.

“All I want to do is play football – good football so that the fans enjoy it and hopefully I can do that.”

Barlaser played four games in League Two for Crewe last term. He also made three appearances for Newcastle's U21 side in the Football League Trophy and started the EFL Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The youngster is highly rated in the north east and made his debut for the Magpies in an FA Cup win over Birmingham City in January 2017 and also featured against Oxford later that month when Newcastle exited the competition.
