Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings after the 1-0 win at Hull City.

David Raya 8

Had just one save of note to make all afternoon, and that was an 89th minute point-blank save from a Wijks header. Was quick off his line on several other occasions.

Ryan Nyambe 8

Has made a strong start to the season and his lung-bursting runs forward proved to be a real asset. Wasn’t to know the linesman had flagged when making a terrific goal-saving challenge late on.

Darragh Lenihan 8

Helped start countless Rovers attack when winning the ball on the halfway line and was strong in the air as Rovers saw the game out.

Charlie Mulgrew 8

Showed good composure when bringing the ball out from the back in the first-half where he made a good block from a Bowen shot.

Amari’i Bell 7

Strong performances have meant Derrick Williams hasn’t been missed. Still could be more confident when in possession.

Richie Smallwood 7

Looked as if the pace was getting him at times in the second half, but continued to battle his way through. Picked up some good positions in the first half without taking full advantage.

Corry Evans 8 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Controlled the middle of the park with some excellent positioning which allowed Rovers to stay dominant in possession while not susceptible on the break. Made one vital interception to keep out Kane in the first-half and man-marked Evandro out of the game in the second.

Elliott Bennett 7

His first half time cross was finished by Dack. Somehow failed to score from inside the six yard box but helped to press Hull back with some strong running.

Bradley Dack 8

Denied by a sprawling Marshall save early on, but found a way past him with a crisp half-volley finish on his left-foot. Limped off on the hour mark.

Kasey Palmer 7

Linked up well with Dack for his early chance and saw a second half effort saved. Showed glimpses of quality before running out of steam.

Adam Armstrong 8

Had the beating of the Hull backline from minute one. Played his part in the goal and showed excellent movement throughout. Unfortunate not to see a second half burst not bring about a goal.

Subs

Danny Graham (for Dack, 59) 7

Denied a second of the season by a point-blank Marshall save. Curled another effort wide and was too strong for Hull’s central defensive duo.

Lewis Travis (for Palmer, 67) 7

Brought extra energy to Rovers in the final quarter and as part of a midfield trio helped shut down the game.

Joe Rothwell (for Armstrong, 77) 7

Once again showed some nice touches on the ball and his driving runs helped wind down the clock.

Subs not used: Jayson Leutwiler, Paul Downing, Craig Conway Dominic Samuel
