STANLEY boss John Coleman felt his side could have secured all three points after a stirring finish to the Reds 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic at the Wham Stadium.

Jordan Clark’s second half equaliser earned a share of the spoils with the Addicks and spared a rousing finish by the Reds but they couldn’t find a late winner.

Karlan Grant put the visitors in front with a header midway through the first half and Stanley were indebted to keeper Connor Ripley for a number of key saves early in the second period,

But the Reds rallied and dominated the final 20 minutes with Clark stroking home the leveller 12 minutes from time to earn a first home point of the campaign.

Coleman said: “It was a good game and I think we played well, Charlton are a good side and we matched them all the way.

“I was disappointed with the goal because it is a great ball in and a great header we think we should defend that better.

“But we showed a great character.

“The second half it was a bit scrappy, it was stop start with a lot of niggly fouls and I think both teams lost their way a bit.

“In the last 20 minutes I thought we were terrific, we went for it, we got the goal and didn’t sit back. We went all guns blazing to get the winner and I think we were unfortunate not to do so.”
