Gemma Donnelly will have six new signings to choose from ahead of Rovers Ladies’ return to action this weekend.

Rovers have won the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division title for the past two seasons, only to lose in the following play-off finals to Tottenham and Charlton respectively.

Having failed in their bid to win promotion to the newly-formed Women’s Championship, and seen their appeal thrown out, Rovers will now concentrate on their league campaign.

That gets underway away at Doncaster Belles on Sunday, with Donnelly knowing lifting the league title this year will guarantee promotion.

Rovers won an historic treble last year and have added a number of new players to the squad as they look to claim a hat-trick of league titles.

Following the departure of experienced goalkeeper Danielle Hill, Rovers have brought in Alex Brooks from Fylde as their new number one.

The talented shot-stopper is one of three new faces to join from Fylde, along with midfield duo Lauren Davies and Eve Kennerley, who was with the club as a youngster.

Forward Bethany Donoghue, another former Rovers player, returns to the club from Sheffield FC, while defender Charlotte Stuart joins from Bradford City, where she was player-manager.

Kate O’Gara became Rovers’ sixth signing when she completed a move from Lady Chaps Soccer in the United States.

Donnelly has also retained the services of a number of her most experienced players, including long-serving skipper Lynda Shepherd.

Joining her in committing their futures to the club are Natasha Flint, Jess Holbrook, Saffron Jordan, Lagan Makin, Natasha Fenton, Kayleigh McDonald, Alex Taylor, Ellie Cook, Kelsey Pearson, Chelsey Jukes, Hannah Walsh and Sarah Agger.
