CLARETS reporter Tyrone Marshall hands out the ratings for Burnley's Europa League win over Istanbul Basaksehir.

Joe Hart 9 (Man of the Match)

A goalkeeper who often saved his best for Manchester City for Europe and looks ready to repeat that for the Clarets. Four saves in four minutes at the end of the first half, including a fine stop from Visca. An even better fingertip save in the second half from the same man and then made it a hat-trick against the Bosnian with vital save from his 120th minute header. Looks a bargain already.

Phil Bardsley 7

Tested Mert Gunok also with a rasping drive and saw plenty of space to get forward in to. Backed off Frei for a chance late in first half.

Kevin Long 8

Rises to every challenge he’s set and did so again here. In the right place at the right time throughout the night.

Ben Gibson 7

A composed and calm debut. Looked good in possession and defended solidly. Will challenge for a first team place.

Stephen Ward 7

Had his hands full with the outstanding Visca, who was Basaksehir’s best player in both legs, but stuck to the task.

Aaron Lennon 6

Started brightly and unlucky with a slaloming run that was ended by Gunok’s save, but drifted out of the game

Ashley Westwood 7

Inspired by the armband? Dictated play in the first half looked to relish the extra responsibility as he whipped in dangerous corners

Jeff Hendrick 6

Lost possession in a dangerous area in the first half but made an impact with the goal, involved twice before teeing up Cork

Charlie Taylor 7

Whipped in some dangerous first half crosses and supported Ward well. Good considering he played in an unfamiliar fashion

Ashley Barnes 6

Involved a running battle with their defenders. Won some clever free-kicks, especially in extra-time, but offered little threat

Sam Vokes 6

Strong in the air to win his fair share of flick-ons but another who struggled to make much of an impact
