Corry Evans believes Rovers are better placed to enjoy a successful season in the Championship this time around.

Rovers were relegated in 2016/17 having been 15th the season before.

But there is an enthusiasm that they can better those finishes this time around, with Evans saying boss Tony Mowbray must take the credit for that.

The 28-year-old is in his sixth season at the club and feels Rovers are better prepared to deal with the Championship’s challenges this time around,

“It is down to the manager’s experience,” said Evans. “He’s been around the league and knows what it takes to have a successful team.

“Organisation is a big part of that and we do a lot of work on that side of things. The manager’s experienced and knows what he wants from his teams.

“The manger wants a dynamic team, on the front foot, aggressive, giving the fans something they want to see, scoring lots of goals.

“Progressively through last season we have grown in to that team and we might not have started that well last season, it took us a while to get used to the league, but we’ve shown our capabilities.”

Evans brought up the 250th appearance of his club career in the 0-0 draw with Millwall last time out. More than 150 have come in a Rovers shirt, with 97 accumulated during his two-and-a-half years with tomorrow’s opponents Hull.

He made the switch to Ewood Park in 2013, in the same week Tom Cairney swapped East Yorkshire for East Lancashire, following Hull’s promotion to the Premier League.

Both clubs have endured eventful times since, and when asked if felt five years since leaving Hull, Evans said: “It does. I was a young boy when I was there and it’s been quite a while.

“I don’t think there’s any players left in the squad from my time there, maybe a few members of staff. But it’ll be good to go back.

“Myself and Tom came that year, Gary Bowyer took us, and it’s been good times.

“I wanted to play football. I’d got a young family and wanted to be back closer to home (Manchester) and back down this way.

“Playing regular football at that stage of my career I thought would be beneficial for me and it has been in a way. I’ve played a lot of games.”
