STANLEY face Charlton for the first time in a league fixture this weekend and boss John Coleman is relishing the opportunity to right the wrongs of their midweek Carabao Cup humbling.

The Addicks were a Premier League side as recently as 2007 and are one of the bigger draws in the third tier.

A big crowd is expected at the Wham Stadium as Stanley bid for their first home win of the season and Coleman is keen to move on from the 6-1 defeat to Mansfield on Tuesday night, something he felt was 'a freak result.'

"We have got to take it as a freak result but we have got to learn from it and try and educate the players who played in the game to avoid it happening again," said the Reds chief,

"There were a couple of positives, I thought Sam Finley played really well and I thought Jordan Clark was impressive when he came on.

"The big thing that impressed me was the way the players kept their discipline and kept on working hard right until the end.

"Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a couple of steps forward. It certainly does them no harm to learn."

The Reds face a Charlton side who sit alongside them in the early League One table with both sides having won one and lost one from their opening two fixtures.

And Coleman is expecting a tough test against Lee Bowyer's men.

“Charlton are a good side, they have good players, but so do we and we will formulate a plan to try and beat them.

“The fact it is our first league game against them adds extra spice and hopefully it will be a good game in front of a big crowd."

Coleman is still hoping to strengthen his squad before the loan window closes at the end of the month and is targeting two strikers and defensive reinforcements although new faces before the Charlton clash appear unlikely.

The Reds chief is also hopeful that Sean McConville and Finley, who both went off injured against the Stags, will be fit for Saturday.

He added: "I am hoping Sean and Sam are going to be fit for the weekend. Sean went for an x-ray (on Wednesday) and that was all clear. It is just heavy bruising and knowing the type of character Sean is he will want to be involved on Saturday."
