CLARETS reporter Tyrone Marshall hands out the ratings from Burnley's 0-0 draw at Istanbul Basakshekir in the Europa League third qualifying round.

Joe Hart 8

Two solid first half saves. Kicked well throughout, organised the back four well and showed his European experience to wind down the clock

Phil Bardsley 7

Admirable display against the pacy Elia, who was barely in the game. Didn’t see much of him going forward

James Tarkowski 8 (Man of the Match)

Could perhaps have done better with first half chance when he couldn’t get the ball out of his feet, but he was Burnley’s best defender. Clarets looked nervy early on until Tarkowski got on the ball and display his usual poise. One big block on an Emre shot.

Ben Mee 7

Showed some early nerves, nearly costing the Clarets inside two minutes. Settled well after that and defended resolutely in the second half

Charlie Taylor 8

Faced the dangerous threat of Edin Visca, with Basakshekir often attacking down their right, but got better as the game wore on and made some excellent interventions in the second half

Ashley Westwood 7

Difficult night for the midfield to impress but got through a mountain of work and tried to get his foot on the ball when it came

Jack Cork 6

Saw little of the ball to set the tempo. Movement and passing of Basakshekir skipper Emre posed a difficult challenge

Jon Walters 6

Difficult night to make your first start for the club in a year. Plugged on down the right and tracked back diligently, but little happened for him going forward

Jeff Hendrick 6

Tried to push up in support of Barnes but aside from a brief first half spell the service just wasn’t there. Worked hard to try and get on the ball

Johann Berg Gudmundsson 6

Was suffering from a stomach bug and looked below par. None of his usual vibrancy and gave the ball away quite a bit

Ashley Barnes 6

Just eight first half touches summed up his night. Very little service, battled for all he could. Neat turn and skill to win late first half free-kick
