OFFRANDE Zanzala says it was a “no-brainer” to come back to Accrington Stanley, and is looking forward to making more memories.

The young striker ended the League Two title winning season on loan from Derby County, and scored his first Football League goal in the 4-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers en route to promotion to League One.

Zanzala returned to the Rams in the summer, and completed pre-season with the Under 23s squad, playing in friendlies against Real Union and Lincoln City.

But when the offer of a two-year contract at the Wham Stadium, with a further 12-month option, was made, Zanzala admits he jumped at it.

“It’s something I’ve been thinking about a long time. When I was given the offer to come back it was a no-brainer. I made a lot of great memories last season, winning the league, and experienced some great times with the lads and the coaching staff,” said the 21-year-old, who has returned from the Rams for an undisclosed fee.

“It’s good to be back and see the lads again and I’m looking forward to the new season, hopefully doing well, scoring goals and cracking on and hitting the ground running.

“When I came here last season I loved every bit of it. To be offered a contract on a permanent deal it’s one I couldn’t really turn down and I want to make more great memories and more history.

“Scoring my first league goal was such a great moment on the incredible journey that we went on. Making that mark was vital for me is one which I’ll never forget.

“I want to do the same this year and more and do the best I can and make a name for myself really.”

And Stanley boss John Coleman was delighted to get Zanzala back on a permanent basis.

“We’ve been trying to get him since the end of last season so to get it over the line today is great. It’s a fantastic signing,” he said.

“I think he’ll do really well. He knows all the lads, he’s got a great personality, a great work ethic and a great attitude towards football. This is a chance to kick-start his career and really step on it.

“He scored our last goal in League Two. It was great for him and hopefully there will be a lot more to come.”

Zanzala was limited to game time during his loan spell last season, but Coleman added: “He was just unfortunate that he was in a place where everyone was absolutely on fire and no-one was getting injured or suspended, but I think the togetherness of the squad meant that he enjoyed every minute of it even when he wasn’t playing.

“Hopefully he’ll get a lot more game time for himself and we can go on to better things in League One.”
