Rovers are looking to make at least three additions before the two respective transfer windows close next month.

Cash buys and loan signings are expected in what is likely to be a busy end to the summer window.

Rovers are working hard behind the scenes to add to the squad with the window for permanent transfers set to close on August 9, while loan deals can be agreed up to August 31.

Business has been slow going for the majority of Championship clubs this summer, with Rovers bringing in just Joe Rothwell and Jacob Davenport for undisclosed six figure sums so far.

But manager Tony Mowbray is eager to address the shortage of options in attack, which could see Rovers eclipse the £750,000 they spent on Bradley Dack last summer.

Rovers have this summer secured seven contract extensions for first-team players, are light in the forward areas with just two senior strikers and two wingers on their books.

Their options were depleted following the departure of last season’s loan quartet.

Two of them, Adam Armstrong and Harry Chapman, would be popular signings with the fanbase after catching the eye before returning to Newcastle United and Middlesbrough.

Rovers have explored the possibilities about returns for both, but given their inexperience at Championship level, Mowbray is also pursuing other lines of enquiry.

A deal for a Manchester City youngster has been held up after the young attacker travelled on their pre-season tour of America which ends on Sunday.

Mowbray is also keen to strengthen in defence having allowed Scott Wharton to join Lincoln City on a season-long loan.

Charlton Athletic defender Patrick Bauer has been a target for much of the summer, but the two clubs remain apart on the valuations of the 25-year-old who has just 12 months left on his contract.
