CALVIN Savage made 174 for Darwen as they secured a place in the semi-finals of the Lancashire Knockout.

Savage was in supreme form as the Towers racked up an imposing 303-7 at Birch Hall.

Rochdale slipped to 21-3 in reply and were never really in the chase as Darwen booked a spot in the last four, bowling their visitors out for 104.

Darwen will now travel to Liverpool Competition side Ormskirk on Sunday, August 19.

Savage’s incredible knock came off just 99 balls and included 13 fours and 12 sixes.

He was supporter by Reece Willetts who made 47 and Scott Jackson who added 38 at the top of the order.

Savage completed a memorable performance to take 3-17 as Rochdale never threatened to succeed in the run chase. John Cordingley, David Bowden and Reece Davies all picked up two wickets for Darwen as Dale were bowled out in 30 overs.

Meanwhile, in the Northern League an unbeaten 50 from Gayan Maneeshan helped Chorley to an impressive seven wicket win over Blackpool.

The home side were bowled out for 128 with the wickets shared around the Chorley bowlers.

In reply, Maneeshan anchored the innings while opener Wian Van Zyl added 36 as the visitors got home with 10 overs to spare.

The result leaves Chorley in fourth place and cuts the gap to second placed Blackpool to 22 points ahead of next week’s home game against Fleetwood.
