Bradley Dack admits he ‘fell in love with the place’ from the moment he walked in to Rovers after agreeing a new three-year deal.

Dack has been rewarded for an outstanding debut season at Ewood Park with a new and improved deal which will keep him at Ewood Park until 2021.

He follows the likes of Darragh Lenihan, Derrick Williams and Richie Smallwood in agreeing new contracts in what has been a productive summer of negotiations by boss Tony Mowbray.

And the League One player of the year, who topped the club's scoring charts with 18 goals last season, admits there was never any doubt about agreeing a new deal.

Dack still had another three years to run on his previous deal, after a £750,000 switch from Gillingham, but this one represents his increased standing within the squad after an award-laden first year in East Lancashire.

“It’s been a bit of a long time coming but I’m absolutely delighted to sign on the dotted line and I can now look forward to the next few years of representing Blackburn Rovers," the 24-year-old said after putting pen to paper.

“There was no doubt. It was always what I wanted to do and as soon as the season finished we went straight into talks.

“From the first day I arrived here I fell in love with the place.

“It’s all been a bit of a whirlwind really.

“We had a fantastic season and the fans took to me right away.

“It’s been amazing, from the players to all the staff, there’s a real togetherness at the club and I’m really enjoying my time here."

Dack's 18 goals helped fire Rovers to promotion last season before winning his second League One player of the year prize having done the same with Gillingham in 2015/16.

He is yet to play in the Championship but is excited about the challenge after winning the first promotion of his career with Rovers.

And he admits his first year at the club has exceeded what he thought he could achieve.

He added: “I had ambitions when I first came here and we achieved that, but it’s probably gone better than I ever expected.

“It’s been a massive achievement.

“Not many people can say they’ve earned promotion in their careers and we’ve done that.

“We did it in style as well, particularly considering there was pressure on us to go straight back up."

Dack rightly received plenty of awards, and plaudits, after playing a key role in Rovers' promotion.

But the club has also helped bring out the best in the attacking midfielder who is keen to show his talents in the Championship next term.

“I wanted to get my head down and play the way I like to play, which I feel I’ve done," Dack explained.

“I feel I’ve improved as a player here, working with better players, better coaches in better facilities.

“How professional the club is makes you a better player and a better person.

“In my position, the main thing is to create and score goals. I just wanted to help the team whether I got five, 10 or 15 goals.

“As long as we got promoted then I was always going to be happy."
